[On the network screens today, people may find a young pink haired teenager in what seems to look like a school uniform -- her expression is anything but calm, however, as she speaks in her usual, hurried Kansai-ben accent in a panic:]

So, I was jus' gonna introduce myself ta everyone as someone new ta this world and ask a few questions, but when I got ta my apartment, I found...

[And the camera pans to what seems to be a gift basket with an oversized egg.

For those familiar, it's definitively a Pokémon egg.]

Do people 'round these parts just gift oversized livin' eggs ta newcomers? I ain't sure if I'm ready ta handle somethin' like that! Do ya think I can return ta sender or somethin'?

[SHE'S JUST A GIRL, FAM...........she's already got enough on her plate as it is. Anyway, she clears her throat, trying to compose herself.]

Anyway, the name's Megumi, and I'm a psychic. If I'm gonna have ta live here fer a while, there're a few things I'm curious 'bout.

[CLEARS THROAT]

First: are any of y'all hirin'? I've worked a buncha odd jobs before, and while I heard there're some quests out there fer me ta deal with, it might be a while 'til I'm prepared fer them, so I'd wanna work somewhere else in the meantime. Cain't believe I'm almost missin' bein' called "boy"...

[Wait for it--]

WHY THE HELL IS THERE A GACHA RESTARAUNT!? Ya cain't even collect free currency, so yer only payin' with the premium! Not ta mention it's all solo pulls! At least make it a one time gimmick, not yer whole restaurant setup!!

Inappropriate! So uh maybe don't go there either unless you're on that kind of date or something. I guess.

But! I dunno about trend, but maybe? Some other stuff that's not food is random too! Like the new friend that's gonna hatch from your egg! And there's a gacha arcade, and instead of money, you Pau in energy! I guess it must keep the lights on or something. Or maybe the owner just needs touch energy to charge magical energy? But they're not the same thing, so how does that work...? Huh, I never thought about it.

Why the hell did they make an inappropriate gacha restaurant!? Just make it a strip club or somethin' else!

[MEGUMI-]

At least an arcade makes sense. Although I still don't really get this "touch energy" thing. Ya really just gotta shake hands with people?

Yeah! Or hug them, hold hands, all that kinda stuff! It's easy to make friends here, so it won't be any trouble at all! At least I don't think it is.

[For a moment, Megumi grows quiet. "Easy to make friends", huh.

There's a feeling that stirs in her chest at that thought - a memory that she knows is deep inside of her.

If ya say so. [The response isn't as feisty as it was just a few seconds ago.] So ya said there really is a livin' thing in this egg and it's also completely random?

Yeah! I mean, experts probably know what it is, the eggs do all look different. The one Hina-chan came out of was kinda bluish with spots, and she looks like this! Hina-chan, can you come over here?

[A Zubat flies into frame, squeaking, and lands on the back of Rinku's hand. Rinku pets her little head with one finger.]

A bat came outta an egg like that!? Wait, do bats even lay eggs ta begin with?

These ones do! I think everything from their world lays eggs. Well, most things. Haven't asked if humans do, but I don't think so, since humans are just humans.

[yersavior]

[Another... somewhat lengthy pause, as if contemplative but then she grimaces.]

The idea of humans layin' eggs is horrifyin'. Don't ever mention it again.

[But wait, she picked up on one thing,]

Are the eggs not from this world?

[roundandaround]

Yeah, they're from another one just like we are! I guess they came in and fairies started giving them out. It started with this vending machine in the Underground Mall -- the Pokémon in that are already hatched, though -- and now eggs come to people too.

[yersavior]

[There's a lot that goes over Megumi's head here. But there's one important thing:]

Why the hell're living animals in a vendin' machine!?

[roundandaround]

I don't get it either! Nobody knows why! But at least they're protected in the ball... They're kinda not so much animals as their own thing, but still.

[yersavior]

Even if they're protected in the ball, how're they gettin' food in there?! Is someone jus' feedin' them in the machine?

[roundandaround]

I don't actually know how it works... I think it's a suspended animation thingy? Not sure. I tried asking them, but they can't really explain.

[yersavior]

That's still pretty sad.

[roundandaround]

I guess so, huh. I don't usually keep mine in their balls unless I gotta, even though they don't seem to mind it.

[yersavior]

Well, whenever this lil guy hatches, I guess I'll keep 'em outside... wonder what'll hatch from it.

[roundandaround]

I hope it's something you get along with! They're all really different, but I think they're great friends. Some people train them to help with quests too.

[yersavior]

I ain't ever had a pet before, so we'll jus' have ta see.

[But wait,]

Ya can train 'em fer quests? What, do these guys have powers too?

[roundandaround]

Yeah! Hina-chan here can do things like confuse enemies or poison them! Though I haven't really trained her to do quests. I'd let her if she wanted to, though.

[Hina tilts her head and squeaks, and Rinku gives her affectionate head scritches. A Sobble wanders into frame, and Rinku pets him too.]

This is Mecchan, and he's got water powers. He doesn't want to do quests, though, he's happy just doing normal kid things. Like drawing and video games!

[yersavior]

Huh.

[There's a casual shrug of her shoulders.]

Guess I'll figure it out when I get there.

[roundandaround]

That's what I do! There's no use worrying about it, and I know it's gotta work out. Besides, it'll be fun!

[yersavior]

Yer kinda optimistic, ain't ya?

["Kinda" is actually an understatement, though...]

[roundandaround]

I think that's a good way to be! How come?

[yersavior]

Nah, it just reminded me of people I know back home. 'S better ta be optimistic 'bout things than ta be the opposite.

[Especially back home. But it's not like she's a bright ray of sunshine, herself.]

That's what I think too! There's all kinds of great things out there that you might never know about. And happiness is the most important thing to me!
