Hey all! So due to cosmic coincidence, it seems like Older Sonic, Older Shadow, Fluffy Shadow, and I all have Birthdays in the same week.

But since the others aren't NEAR as cool as me, they haven't even registered this, so this weekend, we got ourselves a sorta surprise party for them. A surprise in that I just make sure Big Blue can't see me for five minutes so I can set it up and sudden party.

All friends of Hedgehogs are welcome to come and enjoy some food and games! Pay attention to signs, those are important rules.

Also angry Shadow, if its your Birthday too, come get some cake, just keep any fights outside the party.

Yeah.

Like don't get me wrong, we are incredibly different.
But I can see the stuff that sticks for us both.
Despite how different our lives are.
So I think that's where "Sonic" comes in.
Versus "This Sonic."

Huh... But lots of things that aren't anything like each other all have flour, too. What if we're all made out of the same flour and it's just easier to see when you're different versions of one person?

Oh no, there are definitely some people who are just fundamentally different.
Unless you want to get to the granular of 'we are all capable of having a personality.'

I don't really get it, but that makes sense! Maybe some people are just, I dunno, pumpkins and not flour. Or maybe I just got into the metaphor too much again.

Sometimes people are just pumpkins and some are flour.
I think you can do a lot with pumpkins too.

If it helps, one of the "Sonic" things is we gotta be able to move around.
I am pretty sure if a "Sonic" is ever still too long, we would surely combust from too much pent up energy.

I think you greatly underestimate how much staying still without any stimulation is an absolute maddening experience.
Its why I can't cook well.
Its the waiting.

I just get distracted doing a bunch of other stuff while I'm waiting. ...Although sometimes that means the food burns and then we gotta get takeout again............

Yeah, that.
The attention is also real hard.
Now try to pay attention, but every minute feels like fifty.
I go into cooking even a little hyped up and the speedster processing is there and WOOF.

I just learned the Summer hyperfocus skill and it's like WHOA

Like I already could sometimes do it before just normally but that's different, it would just come and then it would be 3 AM and I'd still be watching dance videos. Other stuff I couldn't pay attention to even if I really tried. Sometimes even if I liked it and wanted to! I just thought it was some magic power of schoolwork to put people to sleep, but nobody else had that problem! The only reason I even passed any classes was we couldn't perform if I didn't, and studying felt like a death trap!

Now I can go to the library and I read a whole textbook about ACCOUNTING and I didn't fall asleep ONCE is this how other people live????????

It might be how other people live.

Sometimes your brain is all sorts of wired differently and things like studying seem like a superpower, but whoops, no, its because they have the wire!

You might also look into being ADHD, the psychology books I skimmed certainly had some similar vibes.

Really? You read psychology books? What all did they say?

Oh yeah.
There was this psychology office I would play in all the time.
The books helped figure out some stuff.

[When Absolutely No One Else is looking after your health, you gotta do it yourself and that includes your brain when you're so isolated.]

They said a lot of stuff. And like stuff wasn't exact, but also I think a lot of psychology isn't exact because you know.

People are complicated.

But like sometimes people need stuff to be interesting or they can't kick their brain into paying attention.
Except in like more smart person terms.
You just can't get the dopamine to work with you.

Huh... Is there stuff you can do for that? I just kinda thought I had to deal or that I was just bad at some things and couldn't do them.

There is medication.
Which would probably work for you since its for human.
And I assume you don't process medicine at warp speed.

There's also coping methods.
Some of them can kind of work.
I use junebugging for cleaning!
Like it looks like normal cleaning since I'm fast.
But I really do the junebugging thing which is like you pick an area.
That is the area you are GOING to clean.
But you let yourself get distracted to clean other stuff.
You just have to make sure to always get back to that spot.
Like how junebugs wander.
So by the end, you finish that spot.
And probably have other stuff cleaned too.

I could try it! Maybe I should ask people about that. Like, I dunno, medical people.

That makes sense! I feel bad when my house is a mess, especially if Mary-chan has friends over and stuff, but sometimes it feels impossible to clean... But I'll try that way and maybe it'll work better! The hyperfocus skill is REALLY useful but also I guess I could run out of magic eventually huh.

Oh yeah, I have skimmed books, I am not a professional.
I can say check it out, don't trust any medicines I recommend, if nothing else I don't even know numbers

Yeah, don't overtax your magic.
You need to build endurance.
Instead of making lists, make a web.
These are the things to do and you can do them all at once because the webs are interconnected, so when one thing is boring, its off over here.
