{ it's been a while since he last posted on here, and he honestly looks tireder, it takes a moment for him to recognise the video is recording and he'll start--finally offering a smile. it isn't a very big one, and a bit more sheepish. }

I saw Loki already made comments on another post about what happened, but I wanted to say sorry if I worried anyone. Both Annie and Loki already gave me hell for dying, no one else needs to. Really.

{ he takes a deep breath }

But I had been working on something before all that happened. I've been working with Harrison since there isn't exactly much in place to help prisoners actually re-engage with society once their time inside is up, so I've set up a Reform Program in collaboration with the police. I'll be the only one working cases to start, but if anyone thinks they could be a positive influence on someone's life and wants to make a difference, hit me up. Hopefully we can make this world a better place outside of just the darkness.

If you have any questions ask away, I'll do my best to answer them.

[ On one hand, this sounds like a great idea -- offering assistance to the people who need it the most. On the other, something about the word reform grinds his gears a little bit. He never needed to be "reformed", and neither did the orphans that Historia took in. What they needed had been a change of circumstances from the ones designed explicitly to exploit them, that's all. ]

[ So he doesn't immediately jump to it, instead observing Ezra with a level stare. ]

[ (He'd say some things about the dying, but if Annie was there, he trusts it has been taken care of in the appropriate way, at this point.) ]

Are you planning to actually help them, or just slap them on the shoulder, tell them crime is bad and expect them to starve rather than steal a loaf of bread next time?

[ ...so people were going to jail for pretty small things where he's from, if they got caught. Don't worry about it. ]

[ At least, from his tone that's a bit less tirely level than usual right now, it should be clear enough he knows the ins and outs of this situation extremely well. On a personal level, even. ]

[ levi is only okay because-- haha just kidding. he was also an orphan, and he was found by a serial killer, taught his skillset, and promptly abandoned only to be blackmailed into joining the hopeless fight army roughly fifteen years later. he's surprisingly well adjusted all things considered, but calling it okay would be stretching it. ]

[ that aside though, either like recognizes like, or ezra has simply provided the correct answer, because the air of hostility seems to evaporate, replaced with a level stare for a few moments, and then a laconic: ]

Then I'm interested.

[ In helping, he means. This is basically his life's story, so he might just be able to connect with these people, even if he's lacking anything resembling a bedside manner. ]

cw: brief mentions of death and trafficking...

[ hold on, he hasn't even mentioned the parts where he spent over a week in a room with his mother's corpse, or when he got beat up by grown-up thugs who wanted to force him into sex work while trying to get her last belongings from them. (thanks to something between fate and sheer luck, he'd had a Moment of snapping hard enough to awaken an anime power and killed them all, but he's very aware what happens to most regular Underground kids who find themselves in similar circumstances.) anyway-- ]

[ that's not really an expression he expects. not that his first impressions suggest otherwise or anything; it just feels rare to run into someone who appears to actually care about things like this. ]

...Levi Ackerman. [ he's going to actually provide his full name here, because his username only has half of it, and he is serious about wanting to help. ] That's fine. I don't know if I'm good at talking, but I'll do what you need.

[ he's probably better than he thinks, but something like leading an activity that leaves some room for talking would likely be easier for him. too bad that he doesn't consider himself particularly mentor-worthy in anything that doesn't involve killing something. ]
