Hi all.

I've found in my travels that the best ways to get to know a community are to see what people do in their off time and find out where they go. So. Tell me anything.

What are your favorite places to eat?

What do you do with your time?

What are popular activities or hobbies around here?

For my own interestes, I have a few specifics:

Where is the nearest record shop?

Does anyone need an archival specialist? Data engineer? Librarian?

Also-- Does anyone know of a half decent mechanic that will follow instructions?

[There was definitely relief in Rider's posture once Athena revealed that they were not, in fact, the Deity who had cursed her- it seemed that, with that misunderstanding out of the way, the tension in the air had significantly eased.

Rider listened carefully to the explanation. Yes, she could understand that. In her lifetime, humans called upon the blessings of the Gods and invoked their names to give them strength, hope, protection, healing- any number of things. Borrowing Athena's name that way...perhaps that was simply another form of that practice.

She'd come back to asking them about that later. Before she could dwell it, though-

Whilst she had heard of Gods being invoked in such a way, it never once occurred to her that humans would call upon a Monster in that same light. Rider- Medusa- could not even say she liked humans, particularly, and for all her and her sisters were supposed to represent for humanity, she had never personally sought to be a pillar of strength for them.]

What...me? But-...

[Medusa did not emote much, but suffice to say, the subtly stunned expression spoke for itself.

But, when she thought about it, had she not taken that role for her True Master, Sakura, in the Holy Grail War? Was that not why she was called to her, even though she had used no catalyst for her summoning? By the end of it all...was Sakura one of those wounded women, who found comfort in invoking her strength?]

...I had no idea.

... You survived.

[Athena shifted, and their jittery nerves left them feeling uncomfortable in their own skin. Recent weeks had seen them contemplating Medusa as well for a variety of reasons, but none of them were worth elaborating on in that moment. Instead, they bit their lip and added:]

Many women throughout history don't survive the whims of selfish men. And some of the women that did survive decided to get images of you tattooed on their bodies for many reasons-- as a reminder of your strength, and even as a protective ward.

[Staying still was impossible at this point, and Athena started reflexively tapping their foot while they fought with the fount of knowledge in their head as well as their own tongue. After a moment, Athena added another thought. ]

... Much of history has been written and told by men, and even the Goddesses were bound by societal standards. Some scholarly women think that Athena the deity may have had no choice in what she had to do to you... But that she at least tried to give you the strength to defend yourself from such a fate ever happening again.

They both seem like the type that would be very busy. Thanatos must not have known what to do with himself here. Poor guy must not have much time for hobbies...

A void with bright eyes sounds incredibly cute. Honestly? That's a great description for a cat, too.

Hello. This is Hlasoh, we met earlier.

You'll have the best luck in a job like that in the great library in Amberfall, or the Research Center in Nightwake center itself. They will undoubtedly be interested in whatever technological information you can provide. You're most likely to find mechanical repairs in the city center too.

As for myself, I spend quite a lot of the time not working training my magic, or reading books that catch my interest from the library. I enjoy art and theater and often frequent Sunwaning and Amberfall. If you seek more physical thrills, the Sinder app is a fine source of that.

One of a few reasons I'm not even mad about the company in an otherwise empty apartment- they are very cute.

[The voice that answered was bright and chipper despite the circumstances, and the same person from the picture sent earlier answered the door. Their smile was equally bright despite the disheveled hair and the sling that supported one of their arms.]

You're seriously just the gal I was waiting for. If no one answered my questions, I was getting ready to walk my roomy or his boss through it.

Hi, Hlasoh. Devilbreaker. That coffee was great for my headache that day-- thanks.

Management ended up dropping me in with a gentleman called Cor Leonis after that, so we decided that well enough was fine and just call it roomies for now.

Art and theater sound like they're definitely my kind of fun. It's the little things like stories that help connect everyone.

I'll be sure to check them out, as well as the library and the research facility.

Are there any good shows right now?

[Only name she'd gotten- and heck if she wasn't going to use it unless corrected, honestly. Those eyes of hers brightened up in show of a smile, helping to close the door behind when she could step in-]

Oh yeah, and repairs on arms and the like is something I've got practice in for my friends and I back home. Things happen and just- yeah. So, more than happy to help.

[Iggy's tone was bright, and there may have been a slight British accent, but that just happened where she was from.]

Use of a limb is pretty important, after all. Steady hands came with the old job, and I come with my own palm light if any sort of precise lighting in needed.

Sure does. Maybe if we put the word out, more would want to join in?

I haven't seen or heard of any danger from the fairies at all.
They're helpful. Not at all likely to start cursing anyone or lock them into unfair contracts or the like.

They're far more Tinkerbell than Oberon, if you catch the references.

As for a record shop, unfortunately not. But I've heard that the music scene is pretty lively? There was an arts festival pretty recently.

Amberfall is definitely the center of art and literature, and Sunwaning for fashion and theater, though you can find culture all over the city.

Hm, I haven't seen anything in a couple weeks. I'm not really entirely familiar with any of the shows they put on.

[And they weren't just saying that. Ushering Iggy in, Athena showed her over to the haphazard work space they had set up in Cor's absence. It consisted of repurposing the kitchen table for the moment... And dragging over lamps from all over the apartment, in different sizes and brightness levels, for whatever was needed in the moment.]

I don't think it'll be too hard. The electric cat shorted one of the circuits out. I'd fix it myself if I had all my equipment... But the admins here left me with my record player, not my tool box.

Arts and theater are both important in my books. They can tell you a lot about the community and the current situation if you can figure out the context. I've heard that a lot of local lore is lost... Maybe these can help us find some clues?

Regardless. I'm definitely into seeing some of the shows. If you're interested, I won't say no to the company.

Happens when you're meant to specialize in something- now I mostly listen to music and try to help others out back home.

[Still, Iggy was carefully tugging off those fingerless gloves and tucking them away into a pocket. Better to not chance it with something even like leather possibly restricting anything when it came to working on something important.]

I only had my record player and a few vinyl too- and a pair of headphones that work with my record player, anyway. Short circuits though, I can definitely help with that, and of course listen to whatever directions you give since you're the most familiar with the arm.

It's honestly not likely to be very hard if you know schematics at all. My gaming partner and engineering buddy made sure of that.

[A soft huff and a fond smile accompanied the statement-- as if the absent engineer was an old friend.]

maybe not. i have no ideas there. i do not think he had a hobby. i do not think i do, either.

not sure what type of hobby the god of sleep has? naps? i liked to draw at home. lord hades liked my drawings, too.

Art totally counts as a hobby. Anything that catches your interest and keeps your attention counts.

What kind of drawings do you do?

Indeed you are correct. But I also believe that art is potentially valuable in cultivating those who view it, in engaging their faculties of reason and empathy among others, to say nothing of the necessity of enrichment to the functioning of a healthy mind.

Hah. I am certain that this world has its share of great artistic mirrors of the human condition, but... imagine, valuable history and sociology buried in trashy serials and smut.
