Champions of foreign lands and worlds of names I have yet to know–hearken unto me!

[This video starts off with a bang! No, literally. There’s a loud explosion in the background as towering flames suddenly jut out from all corners of the arena forming an orange-red haze around the entire colosseum. For any unfortunate souls here, it’s going to feel hotter than hell but for others just watching from afar; you’re relatively safe for now. Those wild orange flames won’t scorch anyone as long as Rosen has control of them.

Oh, for those of you wondering who’s talking right now–that would be the dapper old bastard with the long flowing hair dressed in bright red and blue tunic standing at the center of the colosseum. Don’t ask how he’s managing to film the entire stunt. He’s just doing what he does best, causing a disturbance. It’s been a little too peaceful here and he’s bloody determined to change all that. If there’s one thing Rosen hates more is peace and quiet.]

Many of you proclaim to be warriors of realms I have yet to explore. Some of you even pretend to be likened to gods all for the sake of vanity and nothing else!

[It’s amazing how this crazed fellow can project his voice. He’s not talking into a microphone or anything. No, he’s literally projecting his voice throughout the entire colosseum over the roar of the fire. That actually takes talent and a lack of shame for being that damn LOUD! Then again, the colosseum has great acoustics.]

Therefore, I challenge you!

[In a flash of brilliant white light, a magical fiery red spear suddenly appears within his right hand. He dramatically points it towards the direction of the camera, making sure that this prized relic is on display for all to see. While it might come into question as of how he’s recording all this, Rosen at least knows how to put on a good show.]

I am called Rosenkrantz, and I formally challenge every capable warrior and legend here to face in armed combat! Only the strong need to apply for those without strength will be turned at the gate!

[He’s not kidding either. If he finds any of you fools lacking, he’ll toss you out of the colosseum on your ass. That is an unspoken rule here.]

With that said, if you seek a worthy challenge–then face me.

[And just like that, the footage goes black.]

[Hijikata has nerves of steel. Rosen can’t help but silently commend the man for that. Mortal or no mortal, not many would be this calm after facing Death right in the eye. It’s truly commendable and enough to make Rosen feel a little less apologetic for his little mistake.]

You would’ve impaled me right in the abdomen with that move.

[He chuckles as he rests his lance over his shoulder. The flames dwindle a bit, leaving this enchanted relic somewhat exposed to the elements. Without the bright colorful flames, this lance looks more burgundy in hue. It’s dormant for now.]

I would’ve been in real trouble there even with my regenerative abilities.

[A stomach wound is notoriously hard to heal from. It’s typically fatal for various reasons and even for an immortal like him, that would’ve hurt like hell. Even so, Rosen isn’t too sure if Hijikata would’ve stabbed him there. While the man is indeed a warrior, it doesn’t seem like Hijikata is a killer. Then again, he could be wrong. It’s not like Rosen knows the man but he’s interested in knowing more about him.

Nevertheless, he accepts the handshake with a cheerful grin. No hard feelings here, just mutual respect.]

I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name earlier. My memory is a little bad at times.

[That’s an understatement…]

I find the results are often more preferable. Though I grant that may be a matter of personal taste.

[Hehe, my ass! Rosen should've known that this little nuisance was going to drag out his misery.]

Fine, fine! Name your bloody price already!

[Hijikata takes his uniform jacket off, crouches down and starts collecting the remains of his weapon into it.]

Hijikata.

[He doesn't mind repeating it. Given the bombastic challenge Rosen issued he's probably fought more people today than one would meet at an office party, and even at the latter type of event no one can always remember everybody's names!

His comments on the trouble Hijikata would have caused him in a mutual impalement scenario do make the samurai feel good. Rosen is both right and wrong in his assessment of him - he has killed many people in his life, and without hesitation too; such is life in the service of the shogunate. But he's never killed anyone who wouldn't have killed him too, and he knows how to fight with honour... it's just very situational.]

I like your weapon. What's its name?

[Surely it has one, striking and fiery as it is!]

I don't know. The other guy who said he was one said he could take bullets with no problem. Can you do that too?

...More or less! I mean it would still hurt rather terribly, especially those awful hollow-point bullets.

I heal rather quickly from most injuries but leave my head and cock alone!

Not actually a complaint I get a lot, believe it or not! [ Watching Rosen circle him, his own stance relaxed by decidedly ready. ] You know, some of us like to get the feel of an opponent before we go all out...

[ But he cocks his head, a wide smirk on his lips. ]

Still, I'd hate to have you keel over waiting for me to actually make a move, so...

[ He tosses his sword up behind him, then drops low and kicks up, off the ground, launching himself feet-first at Rosen's torso.

No feint this time, and he won't so much as flinch if Rosen gets a hit in with that spear of his. He will probably laugh. There's no point in a fight if you don't get at least a little bit hurt. ]

Good! Then we have an accord.

Now, when are you going to FIGHT ME!?

[He has a one track mind and his mind is stuck at fighting!]

A matter of personal taste, hm? Well then, I shall leave you to what you do best. Though, I was rather eager to see if you were a warrior as well.

[It seems this fellow is more scholarly than anything else. That's fine. Not everyone is meant to be a warrior.]

What's your name? I believe I announced myself as clear as day.

Get a feel of me, hm? [A devilish grin settles on his lips as a dirty joke comes to mind.] Well, I suppose I could let you feel my up later~

[When the youth drops low, Rosen is already on the move. He really doesn't know what to expect from this opponent. Yuri's fighting style is so unorthodox that he's having difficulties predicting his next move. This is rather frustrating but oddly exciting as well.

He dashes behind his opponent and uses the blunt side of his spear to smack him right on the ass. It should be a clear shot but Rosen has no idea since Yuri is so quick on his feet. This battle is anyone’s guess at this point. Rosen thinks he can hold out for a bit but he can’t seem to gauge his opponent’s strength.]

Assuming that you win!

[Rosen isn't entirely being serious here but at the same time, he can't help but tease a little.]

[He simply hadn't felt particularly inclined to offer his name in return. Or at least, not nearly so theatrically. But now that he has been directly asked his name, it's no great hardship to mention it.]

As for myself, you may call me Emet-Selch.

[He does not pass any comment on the suggestion that he might be a warrior, though he certainly doesn't much seem like one.]

[ You know, he wasn't being extra flirty with his wording, but it wasn't not there, either, so he smirks, eyes lidding a little, and wow, really, he leaves himself open for a hit and almost gets spanked, okay. Yuri is laughing again even as he catches his sword without so much as a backwards glance to track its trajectory. ]

Is that why you called the whole city out? [ The most shit-eating grin. ] Your people have some rule, and you're not allowed to give it up to anyone who can't beat you in single combat?

[ He's just saying. He'd be sexually-frustrated, too. ] [ Idly twirling his sword for a beat, while he watches Rosen again, then a series of quick slashes, not quite trying to connect, and a much quicker punch coming in behind from his right hand. ]

Maybe. [Judging from the flirtatious edge in Rosen’s tone, Yuri hit the nail on the head.] However, it’s just me. I doubt anyone else has such an arbitrary rule.

[He doesn’t care what the other arkanas do in their free time but he found fighting to be a rather gratifying experience, one that rivals the sweet intimacy of sex. Violence is much easier for him to comprehend than the emotions tied with sensual acts. Even so, he likes sex nonetheless. However, Rosen isn’t going to screw anyone who can properly defeat him in a duel. He loathes weakness and only seeks strength in his potential partners.

That’s why he makes it a point to give Yuri one hell of a fight.

Rosen effortlessly manages to avoid those vicious slashes but it’s the incoming punch he’s watching out for. He pivots out of the way in the last second, effortlessly twirling on his heel in order to aim a kick at Yuri’s midsection. The lancer means to put some distance between them somehow. Having his opponent this close and personal is a detriment for a lancer like him.]

[Well then!]

When I can stock up on ammo. I ran out the last time I was out in a fight.

Oh? Who did you fight? Was it some bloke with blond hair with strange little spectacles on his face?

If so, I fought him too and he can't die.

Emet-Selch? [He lets out a thoughtful hum.] Is that Latin by any chance? It certainly doesn't sound Celt.

[He's noticed as of lately that many people here possess very odd names, most of which seem to be more foreign than the next. Rosen is oddly curious about all that, especially he never really traveled outside of Ireland or Europe in general.]

You sort of sound like a Welsh-man but...oddly different. I doubt you and I hail from the same world.

Ah, right! Hijikata.

[Forgive him for the mispronunciation. He’s a Celt who never practiced Japanese a day in his life. He’s quite unused to such names but give him a week and he’ll nail it.]

Hey, hey! Stop! [Rosen quickly stabs the spear into the ground next to him before kneeling down to help Hijikata pick up the shards. He’s immortal, after all. It doesn’t matter if those sharp little shards cut him up since he heals so quickly.] You’ll cut your bloody hand open doing this yourself.

[He places all of the broken shards within the folds of Hijikata’s jacket before offering the rest to him. His fingers are briefly covered in little nasty cuts before suddenly healing right before Hijikata’s eyes. The broken flesh mends together on its own without any aid. It’s almost as if Rosen isn’t entirely human, nevertheless mortal. He gives Hijikata a little smile before glancing over towards his spear.]

Oh, that old thing? It’s called the “Lúin of Celtchar”, the pride and joy of Ulster.

[Rosen hops back onto his feet and offers Hijikata a hand.]

Legends say that this famous spear once belonged to two legendary heroes hailing from Ulster. One such hero being the Hound himself, Cú Chulainn, the fiercest man to ever walk the earth!

[He reaches over towards his spear and wrenches it out of the ground with a bit of a grunt. The spear suddenly ignites, casting those orange-red flames all around it.]

[Hijikata is probably going to pronounce Rosen's name along the lines of 'Rosenkurantsu', so it's all good! He lets him take care of the shards for him, too wiped out to argue and fuss over such a little thing. The opportunity to observe Rosen's healing ability up close is neat, too. How handy that would be to have!

He listens to the explanation regarding the spear, letting the other man help him up, but the names and places ring no bell in his head. Back on his homeworld Ireland is currently part of the United Kingdom, and he never learned about the particulars of its states and regions. For the time being he's going to assume that Ulster is its own country on a world that's not Earth!]

Well, it looks like you're on your best way to become a legend too. Cú Chulainn would probably be proud of you.

[Rosen seriously is about the fiercest person he's met so far, and that really says a lot. He admires the reignited weapon.]

Almost makes me want to try spear-fighting, but I think I'm better off with my swords.

[Even if his main sword just broke on him.]

Unless Othard or Ilsabard mean aught to you, we are not.

[Or at least... most likely not. He's well aware that not all from his world hail from a time that either continent existed, but that is a point that he's not interested in getting into just at the moment.]

And it is not. It is a name old enough that few on my own world would recognize its origins.

I'm gonna have follow-up questions about that later.

[ But if you were saying the rest of that out loud, Yuri would honestly agree. In some ways, he even prefers a good hard fight.

More dodging back out of the way on Yuri's end, too, ducking and then shoving off the ground into a backflip, and it's starting to seem like that's gonna be the theme here: blows that very occasionally clip each other, lots of dodging, lots of banter. ]

—Not that this isn't fun, but if I don't at least get some bruised ribs out of this, I'm gonna be very disappointed.

[ 'At least'. As if bruised ribs don't really suck. ]

No...

[Who the hell is that guy though?]

It was against a few creatures out in the woods. I haven't had time to make my rounds fighting actual other people here, yet.

[Har har.]

Bruised ribs, huh?

[A shockingly cruel smirk suddenly curls onto his lips as he taps into his true abilities. While his combat skills are fairly impressive, Rosen is at his best whenever he uses fire.]

How about a bruised ego, instead?

[For a good majority of this match, Rosen hasn’t been using his full powers. He was trying to shoot a fair one with Yuri but this insufferable rogue just seems to block every last one of his attacks.It’s horrible frustrating, especially since the little twerp isn’t even taking this fight seriously. That’s why Rosen suddenly summons a towering inferno made of red hot flames around his opponent. With just the flick of his wrist, the fire suddenly swirls around Yuri with every intention of burning the youth alive. He was trying to play nice earlier but Rosen’s competitive spirit has finally gotten the better of him.]

Try dodging that!

A great big bottle of wine will do.

[ Rubbing it in? Nnnaaaah . . . ]
