Sure, some people give candy even to their family, if they want to. There's no rules. I'm sure your comrades would love some.

It is rather sweet. There's a story called The Lost Lady where the celebration comes from and no matter what station, every girl is treated like a lady. Or can decide to become seneschai if they wish.
