{Xie Lian is walking on a beach, clad only in his white trousers. His hair hangs almost to his thighs, covering the majority of his back, but his chest is bare and there are telling marks on his skin. ~~Thank you, San Lang!~~

He crouches before a cute sand castle and smiles happily, reaching out to smooth out a tower.}

What else does my castle need? {His ears are shaped like fins and there are golden and orange scales scattered over his torso.}

I think a little King and Queen. Oh and they need a baby or two, right?

{Now his smile dims slightly.}

Those with aquatic transformations are welcome to join me! Things have been a little tense, haven't they? Swimming can be...a release.

{He brightens again.}

San Lang~ I'm putting you here. {Xie Lian forms a little person, crudely, out of sand and places them right beside the royal children.}

{He waves back enthusiastically, his ears - the fins specifically - waving too.}

Qinghua! You did well in finding me.

{Xie Lian isn't ashamed of said marks, but if his attention is brought to them, he would be a bit flushed.}

How kind! Thank you~ {He stands up and brushes the sand off of his trousers. His white trousers. Guess what happens when they are wet? He hasn't fully thought this through.}

Are you ready to swim?

[Okay, so Xie Lian wasn't exactly Shang Qinghua's type (and married besides), but a beautiful man was a beautiful man, and white fabric did what white fabric does best when wet.

Which would explain why his face turned red before he abruptly busied himself with yanking his shirt off to get ready to swim.]

Yep, yep, ready to go!

{White fabric is traitorous and Xie Lian has yet to look at himself properly. One glance would tell him that the fabric is sticking to his skin and showing the contours and color underneath.

Whoops!}

Follow me! {He makes sure his back is facing Qinghua before he rids himself of his trousers. His hair does a decent job of covering his back (and backside) and it isn't long before he merman tail takes over. By then, he is in the water and he smiles at Qinghua merrily.}

[Don't stare at his ass, Qinghua, you hopeless man.]

Lot better place to change form than the yard! [No, that was not a squeak in his voice, what are you talking about?]

You make that look so graceful it's unfair.

[He waded into the water until it was up to his hips before shedding his pants to toss towards the shore, a seal tail taking over his lower half. Sadly no love marks for him to show off, just the now healed lightning ones. And some cute spots that crawl up from the tail.]

Oh, this is weird.

{~~It's a nice bottom. Muscular and tight thanks to years of training.~~}

I am much safer transforming here, though... I do miss the maple leaves.

{He knows too that he isn't the sort of fish that can live happily in a sea/ocean. But short swims are okay while he is half man and half fish!

Qinghua's cute seal tail delights him and he splashes over to his friend eagerly.}

You're adorable! Try moving it back and forth, hm?

[~~Not helping!~~ Ducks his head, embarrassed by the compliment.]

Figured it was gonna be this or otter. Whale was too weird to think about.

[He tried wiggling his fins experimentally. Surprisingly... not so different from moving feet. The side fins were a little weirder.]

Okay, I think I can do this.

You are much too small for a whale! {But a cute seal or otter? Absolutely! Xie Lian swims around Qinghua and then holds out his hands.}

Let me help. Just focus on your tail.

Exactly! I'm not even sure how that'd look. Tiny torso on huge body? Mini whale? Giant mer-whale thing? And I'd have to start a lot deeper.

[And the pudge just works with it perfectly too. Shang Qinghua tried to turn around with him, ending up flopping sideways before catching those hands.]

Thanks. They're kind of like... having extra arms? It's weird.

{He laughs softly at the different ideas and swims up to Qinghua. Once he has hold of his hands (that little flop makes him laugh more) Xie Lian guides him into the deeper water.}

I'm sure! I think it will make more sense once you are underwater. Try diving and I will follow you.

[He pouts at being laughed at, kicking those fins to move with him.]

Just don't forget that seals still need air, okay?

[Taking a deep breath, he pushed up and dove under the surface.]

{The laughter isn't cruel! He just thinks Qinghua is charming. The little kicks add to that image and Xie Lian bites the inside of his cheek to keep from grinning too much.}

I'm not going to hold you under.

{Xie Lian follows, ready to bring his friend to the surface if he looks distressed. He hopes he won't be. Underwater is a whole new world and it's beautiful too~}

[It took him a minute of adjusting before he got himself actually stable underwater where he could actually stay upright. It was kind of like getting used to sword flight?

And the third eyelid super came in handy for seeing as he gave Xie Lian a thumbs up. Doing good!]

{Xie Lian's hair floats behind him, curling like a wispy, dark cloud, around his head. His scales glitter richly, orange and gold and black, as he darts around Qinghua. Look! This is fun~

Come now, chase him, friendly seal!}

[No one, no one could blame him if he started mentally humming 'Under the Sea' to himself, okay? He couldn't help it!

What he could help, however, was the floundering. Because as long as he thought of it like sword flight, he could get a hang of it.

Because if there was one thing Shang Qinghua was good at, it was flight. And he kept that in mind as he darted after him.]

{If Xie Lian ever saw The Little Mermaid, he would be humming it too~

Flipping onto his back, he grins at Qinghua and then spins back around, swimming deeper before he heads back to the surface. Look at the different shades of blue!}
