Being stuck without any magic when you've relied on magic for... almost twenty years kind of sucks, actually. [Anyone who was there would no doubt be able to guess he's referring to the mines, where all magic had been nullified almost immediately on entry.

The small, orange-haired Miqo'te panicking about it might have been missed, but he most assuredly did panic.]

Could someone spare some time to teach me how to fight without it? I know how to handle a sword... kind of, but it's part of one of the magic styles I know, so I'm not sure how much use that will be...

[E'kayan is not usually embarrassed about things, but he does look a little embarrassed to be asking about this.]

I don't want to be caught out like that again.

Aye, just one of the skill sets I know. I also know how to use machinist weapons and red magic but that isn't what you're searching for I can assume. Given that you mentioned that you use a sword with magic and that describes it well.

I know red magic. Black magic as well. I focus mostly on Allagan summoning magic but I can use old Nymian sorcery too.

[That last one isn't something he's been admitting until recently.]

Magic's something I've always been gifted in. I've never been without it.

Personally? I've used a bat, hat, and lance in combat.

The ones that I've helped coach used swords and hand-to-hand combat, though, so I'm pretty confident in my skills.

I hardly said I was incapable. I have merely not often had call to be a teacher.

Believe me when I say I'm all for heading into something without a plan under most circumstances, but I'm under 5'3 and I've never picked up a weapon for anything but magic in my life. I'm not sure if 'just jump in' is going to be my best bet here.
