[So he's been told he's not...well, he's an oddity, but not 'hunt down and experiment on' kind. It takes a few days to get his nerves to talk on social media, but if he's just accepted as another person, if blue and furry, he wants to really experience it himself.]

[So the camera turns and there is a smiling blue hedgehog who may be familiar looking to some.]

Helllllooooo power people! It's ya boy, Sonic, 2.0! I'm aware some of you know version 1, that's not me. You can tell by the emphasis on more blue. [He lifts up his arms to show the blue goes all the way down instead of the tan.] I'm a touch more compact for more aerodynamics and in my humble opinion, I'm more adorable. [He winks to the camera.] Also I'm like twoish years younger, but it's understandable if you can't clock a space hedgehog's age by appearance alone.

EN! E! WAY!

I'm new in town, been looking around, very nice place. Heard a bit about the Darkness, don't love that, would love to get in on the action of kicking it's butt. Not much for nerd talk, but I'm fast and hit like a truck, great at recon and search and rescue, and a good old frontal assault for anyone who wants quest buddies. Been working on teamwork stuff, not doing half bad.

But don't worry, I'm not all about business! This Hedgehog is here for trying new things and making friends. Already joined the Music Club, supes excited for that. What else do people like to do for fun, what are the sights, what's the thing you keep trying to get people to go with you to, I'm down to try anything once so long it's no more than slightly illegal, so hit me up. [He may or may not be joking about the light crimes.]

Also I have a dog, will take recommendations for dog parks and vets.

Also vets or human doctors who can do space hedgehogs, that may actually be important. Unless one of the powers is healing? Is that a thing?

Oh! I'm winter! So anyone down to teach that stuff, hit me up. New powers sound cool!

Oh, okay! I could try that! Even if it's not really a desert species... Actually, lemme try lizard again, maybe I can get it this time!

[She shifts to mostly this, flopping onto the desk and then climbing up onto the keyboard, waving and then noticing patches of skin where there should be scales.]

You wouldn't have to be transformed long.

The skin thing doesn't hurt, does it? [Time to pick up Lizardku and find a good way to hold her that's comfortable.]

Not really? But I bet I can figure it out! Oh, where should I meet up with you? Do you live close to a teleport node?

It'd be faster to just tell me where you are.

Eh? Okay!

[Rinku climbs off the desk, shifts back to human, and comes back to give the coordinates to her house in Solarpeak.]

Yep!

[Have a Hedgehog in thirty seconds.]

[Rinku opens the door, already getting her armour on over her clothes. Mecchan bolts to hide at the sight of a stranger, and Hina squeaks and approaches but backs off from the sunlight coming through the door; Rinku pets the little Zubat.]

Hi! Whoa, you really are fast! Do you think we're gonna need anything?

[sonic_wachowski]

Eh, I can always come back for it.

[Pause.]

Oh, wait, water, probably. Hydration is important.

[roundandaround]

Okay! One second ♪

[Rinku goes back into her kitchen, leaving the door open. Hina hovers by the window, squeaking curiously at Sonic but not wanting to go into the sun.

Rinku does come back in a bit with her Hammerspace Purse and a couple of colourful metal water bottles, one of which she hands to Sonic. She pets her Zubat again and stows her own bottle to instead pull out a Travel Crystal.]

This'll get us as close as I can! We'll still have to go through the whole desert, though.

[Sonic will step inside and move into the shade, holding out a hand to Hina.]

That's fine. I'm a little slower in sand, but its no big deal.

[roundandaround]

[Hina squeaks and bonks her head into his hand, contemplates biting, but in the end just nuzzles.]

Sure! We're going out, okay? You guys have fun!

[She pets Hina and goes out onto the stairs, shutting the door carefully behind her. Then, she holds out a hand to grab onto Sonic and teleport them.]

Forever Falls!

[They end up in the area she cleared out last month, to the east side of the falls. The landscape is charred and black, clear even from the little alcove in the rock where the Teleport Crystal stands surrounded by Barrier Stones, and more obvious when you go out and down the path. Rinku points out to the east.]

There! From here, you go all the way out there, there's this city of ruins -- I dunno who all's really explored in there yet, but it looks so cool, right? -- and then there's a canyon you gotta get over or around, and the desert's out past there!

[Probably for the best. He wears gloves, as all well dressed mobians.]

[Hina gets some light pets though.]

[He'll take her hand when held out and-]

[Ulp.]

[He sways, free hand going to his mouth.] Eugh. Why is teleporting always...

[Its really not made for him.]

Are you okay, Sonic-kun?

[Rinku crouches down and looks him over. She lets go and starts rooting around in her purse, pulling out rice balls, movie ticket stubs, a bottle of Cooldhesive, spare change, one Barrier Stone, a beach towel, headphones, food containers...]

I gotta have nausea pills somewhere in here.

Teleports rough.

[He holds up a finger and forces himself to breathe. Breeeeathe through the nausea.]

[Boy can go from a stop start of a bullet, but just suddenly elsewhere? That's where its rough.]

[Rinku finally pulls out some ginger pills and hands him the bottle, then stuffs everything else back into the bag.]

This'll help! I think, usually it does anyway. Though I guess I've never had that problem with teleporting. Airship sometimes, not usually.

Vehicles are find. I thought it was just whatever Shadow did, but nope, guess its just any teleports that aren't rings. [Because he's still stepping through rings.]

[He'll take the pill and down it with water.]

Okay, so desert.

[roundandaround]

[Rinku gets back up and pumps her fists.]

Okay! This'll be fun! Mostly. If we run into any enemies, I can try and take them! Oh, right, those rock candy guys are pretty tough, though.

You want to take them for your own practice, or to defend me, because I'm pretty good at defending myself?

If we're going out looking for stuff together, then we should both be fighting the monsters, right?

[sonic_wachowski]

[He nods.] Just checking. Some people have seemed really weird about me going on quests, but they don't have to be.

I'm awesome!

[roundandaround]

I know how that feels. Sometimes I've been left out of things, or some people have gotten weird about me learning how to fight. I was trying to get stronger so they'd stop worrying, but I guess they just always will, so I gotta just focus on doing the best I can anyway.

Then we should go on quests together. I'm getting better at the teamwork thing and I'm a great safety net. You can train and fight against monsters and if its too much, I get us out of there in a jiffy.

So Donut trees and find some monsters to practice with?

[roundandaround]

Sure! It's right down there, past all the burned stuff and the old city ruins and things! Oh, right, I gotta be smaller, huh?

[Rinku tries the gecko shift again -- and this time she manages it! Mostly. The markings on her head are a happy face but maybe that's just how she is.]

Yep! Avoids giving you whiplash or something.

[TIME TO SCOOP A GECKO. He cradles her close and careful.]

[Then from zero, he's off like a shot, zipping across the sand, fast enough that all the kicked up sand is BEHIND them.]

[Literally everything is a blur of movement.]

Wah!

[Rinku yelps, then clings on tight; soon, she starts laughing through the transit from the burned landscape to the ancient ruins to the cracks in the ground and finally to the desert. The direction to the oasis was straightforward, but still, this is something else.

...And the illusions of food are starting to form in the air, because when is this girl not hungry, but she's a little too overwhelmed and having too much fun to notice.]
