How do you tell the difference between romantic love and platonic love?

Everyone I've asked so far has given me a different answer.

[ He can indeed and he echoes the sentiment. ]

Either painstakingly or painfully or both. It's not something you can force into your consciousness. And if your life is like mine the realizations hit you with epically terrible timing.

I mean, I think that's pretty fair.

Trying to force yourself into realizing feelings never works as well as just waiting. I've tried both. Trying to rationalize it ended up terribly. Waiting for it to come to me was easier on everyone.

I can't imagine they wouldn't be willing to wait for you anyway. If they're not then they're not worth your feelings.

You're not that dense. I don't like dense people.

It was never that I didn't like you fine. It's more that it takes time for me to get close to people sometimes. So you weren't wrong to be skeptical.

It's definitely that feelings are hard in general.

You really thought I disliked you?

I take it all back, you're an idiot.

Kidding, kidding.

Just having my daughter like you would be enough to give me better than neutral feelings. But I like you fine on your own merits.
