That's right. The United Nations Space Command.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with such an organization. If you don't mind me asking, does this UNSC operate in the Milky Way?

[bornlucky]

It does. [ A pause. ] Are you from outside of it?

[wickedprayers]

I am not. The planet I am from is in the Kanala system - though it's been quite some time since I've been there.

[bornlucky]

I haven't heard of that system.

[ Which is unusual, considering how many places he's gone.

Curious, he asks, ]

What about the Covenant? Have you heard of them?

[wickedprayers]

As a concept. If they're a group you're referring to, then I have not.

[ So far it seems like the only similarities between their worlds is space travel. Even their Milky Way seems to differ. It's all very fascinating to Thane. ]

It would seem we come from very different places. That has been my experience thus far, however.

[bornlucky]

[ Given how far-reaching they are, it's hard for John to imagine someone not having heard of the UNSC or the Covenant. It leads him to the same conclusion: that they come from different places. ]

We must. How long have you been here?

[wickedprayers]

Not long. I've only just arrived this month. I'm still learning my way around all of the...eccentricities of this place.

[ Like the concept of multiple versions of earth, or whole galaxies. That tends to force a man to reconsider his perspective on some matters. ]

Then we're in the same situation.

[ John, too, only arrived this month. He's used to winging it, sure. But usually, 'winging it' doesn't involve quite so many unknowns—hence the call for fellow members of the UNSC. ]

It would appear so.

[ Thane would be lying if he said he wasn't completely out of his depth. Though he might be more accepting of his situation than most. ]

I find exploration to be helpful in learning more about this place. How it works. There is a logic to everything, even if it seems nonsensical at first.

Any recommendations on where to begin?

[ He's already hit the Welcome Center and the Spring Guild. ]

The segments seem to hold unexplored territory that may be worth investigation. Dangerous, though. I would advise against going alone, even if you are experienced.

Though last time I ventured out to one of them the only thing we found were birds. And eggs.
