[So. Here's that green-haired, freckled teen that his loud bff was going on about. Izuku sits cross-legged on the bed in his bedroom of his newly provided apartment that he has yet to decorate or anything to personalize the space. He looks a little sheepish as he checks if it seems to be working. He's used to something similar, having this sort of technology back home, at least.]

Um. Hi? I'm Midoriya. That is, uh, Midoriya Izuku. I guess a lot of you already kind of know of me from Kacchan earlier...

[He's sorry. Really. It isn't like he asked Bakugo to go off like that.]

I was just trying to get my bearings, I guess. I heard there's school, or at least classes, here. To learn about our new abilities? I think I'd like that. I want to learn to use mine. To at least learn how to control it. If not to help out with it, and my Quirk. Plus, I want to look into prosthetics to help Kacchan. Maybe learn more about music....? I'm sure there's probably a library or something I can check! And I want to be useful and help out, maybe figure out a part-time job?

[......Yeah. That talk that he had with Bakugo about not overdoing it. Izuku might already be wanting to do more than he might realistically be able to manage. Because he's a Nerd and actually wants to Learn about this place and the abilities, and wants to help out as much as he can. This kid is just not used to the idea of not keeping busy, not being useful. Still in that habit of feeling like he has to prove himself.]

[sizhui's interested in a lot of things, but doesn't really know what sorts of subjects there are, thus why he said everything. once he gets things narrowed down, midoriya will know what he likes better.]

Sure! I'll let you know when I check out the school and what options there are for classes.

[If the other did need help with figuring out the phones, Izuku could probably teach him more. One of the benefits of coming from a fairly modern setting, at least.]

[oh gosh, sizhui would appreciate that a lot. he knows a little from asking the natives when he first arrived, but he didn't ask them to go too deeply into detail when it came to things like pictures and videos and texting, so he's flying by the seat of his pants.]

I'll check about classes and let you know. I'm not sure if the schools here are the same as back home with the holiday timing, but I'll see. Usually, around now is the summer break. So it's probably a good time to check.

Okay. No, you probably shouldn't, but there's nothing wrong with making the assumption that it might be similar to how it is back in your world. If it's different, then oh well. If not, then you will know how it works!

Yeah. I guess I'll see. I'm sure I'll figure it out. I know the hero course isn't necessarily the most....mm, traditional, but we still had the usual classes. So I'm sure this won't be too difficult.

You're a bright fellow, I have faith in you! What is it that makes this hero course non-traditional?

Well, part of it is more practical, hands-on? We sort of....mm, apprentice? Part of our course is going out with a mentor, a professional, and working alongside them. And we focus a lot on training to use our Quirks. I'm not sure that sort of thing is necessarily as common in the other classes.

[Izuku tries to explain. He's not sure how much Bakugo or Todoroki might have explained to others, or if Lan Sizhui had met them or heard of this sort of thing before now. So he tries to explain it in a simple way that is hopefully easy to understand.]

It sounds a bit like how we learn our cultivation. We also learn from a mentor, usually an older one, and study hard to achieve our goals of becoming cultivators. Even if it's not common here, I'm sure you can find something that's sort of similar.

[he did great! sizhui now understands that a quirk is something like a superpower or perhaps even something like the powers that they've gained since arriving on ellipsa. he hasn't met bakugo or todoroki (yet), but he wouldn't mind doing so.]

Cultivation? I'm assuming you don't mean like. Agriculture, right? Growing plants and stuff?

[Just from the context. He assumes it is something else. Izuku is from a far more modern time in comparison to the other, and some words have different meanings depending on the context, so he figures to check.]

But ah, I guess. Yeah, there's probably some sort of apprenticeships here as well.

You would be assuming correctly. Cultivation is the process of improving health, increasing longevity, and growing powerful. This is accomplished by cultivating qi and training in martial and mystical arts.

[he's a smart cookie to check because sizhui doesn't mind explaining it to him, seeing as it definitely has nothing to do with that type of cultivation.]

Perhaps one could have an apprenticeship to learn how these new powers work? That would be helpful.

I'm less sure about the qi or mystical arts. But if you ever need to spar to keep from getting rusty with the martial arts, I could maybe help. And ah, I did hear there are guilds for the different seasons? So maybe that could be a good starting point? To check there and see if they can help with the new abilities?

Really? That would be very helpful, thank you! I try to practice every day to make sure I don't get rusty, so if you don't mind helping me every now and then...

I don't mind. Ah, as long as my Quirk won't be too much? I wouldn't want to hurt you. But I'm already sparring with my friends, so. I don't mind helping you, too. If that's alright.

[Mostly, it is more that he is hesitant if he might accidentally hurt someone with sparring here. At least against Todoroki or Bakugo, they know what he is capable of and can handle themselves with their own Quirks.]

I'm with Spring as well.

I'm pretty durable, but what sort of Quirk do you have? [just so he can have an idea of what he's in for. that, and he's actually rather curious about what these ‘quirks’ are.

Ah! Perhaps we could check out the guilds together? If you haven't already, that is.

Ah....well, mine is, I guess, a bit more complicated? It's basically to give me enhanced strength and speed, but I can maybe show you sometime?

[That might be best? Not necessarily sparring immediately, but giving a demonstration? Izuku doesn't want to just go in and unintentionally hurt the other.]

I haven't yet, but I want to. I don't mind heading there together.

Interesting! Yes, I would like to see it sometime and then we can decide if sparring would be a good idea or not.
