Aeons are heralded kind of similar to "gods" back home and those known as Pathstriders who get their abilities from them.

Also I do mean that. Sometimes. Have a store with that sort of motto, actually. :)

Probably not, no. Although I have a harder time trying to figure out if they're humans, augmented humans, or aliens.

Are you looking for suggestions?
If you're thinking of becoming a god make sure to pick something that isn't too popular with the lowly mortals you'll be ruling over but isn't too obscure either. Otherwise you'll wind up with a cult dedicated to you and cults are the worst.
They're stupid, they often don't listen to what you actually want from followers, they rely on you to tell them how to live their lives, they're often lead by egotistical maniacs just looking for excuses to have power, and in the end they usually just kill themselves all off!
Gods are pretty stupid and godhood is overrated in the first place, though, so I wouldn't advise becoming one.
