003: Through Hell and High Water [Video; un: fenrirfang, after Olwen's announcement]
[On the evening of the 19th Sept, after Olwen's announcement of their next mission, Mukuro addresses the network.]
Evening Ellipsa.
...Given the announcement of the upcoming mission to the Heart Will Go On Glacier's portal to Hell, I wanted to give a delayed mission report of our preliminary expedition there a year ago, so we can use the intel to strategise accordingly.
[This definitely wasn't Mukuro's favourite subject- her eyes seeming a little unfocused as she picked up some notes from just off-screen. Ones she made beforehand, to ensure she didn't miss anything.]
The initial hallway was dark with an unpleasant smell of decay; bring light sources at a minimum. Once we passed the doorway it locked behind us and could not be moved by metal manipulation or force- unclear if a larger group moving in will prevent it from sealing people inside, but ensure you have a method to escape if you need to retreat.
The ground-level resembled a prison. Human remains and their belongings were still in the cells, along with tombstones baring our names. A distraction tactic for attacks from clawed hands and- uh- what looked like long tongues that attempted to latch onto us. Immune to blades but could be burned.
Near the back of the prison we located a stairway going down. The air got hotter, and the stairs stopped abruptly as we entered the Hell dimension itself. Take caution on the uneven, rocky flooring, and avoid fumes from the lava as much as possible. Enemies in the area prefer stealth attacks. Stay alert for more demon hands at ground level, and sharp, toxic tendrils that attack at high speed-...
[A falter, Mukuro's breath catching for a brief moment- when she carried one, her voice was all the more dull and distant.]
...
...There was singing, referring to a 'Captain'. I think there was magic to try and make us drop guard and sing along. Footsteps from something large began echoing through the cavern, and at that point we coordinated a tactical retreat. Unfortunately, we did not get clear visual on this Captain before we left.
Even if you are an experienced combatant, take extreme caution and prepare adequate defensive measures in advance. That is all.
[Pause. She hesitated, debating ending the call there, before adding; ]
Actually... this is not part of our main objective, but I will offer 1,000 Mooncoins if anyone locates a human hand- the left- wearing a brown leather combat glove down there and brings it out. I don't want it just staying there...
Um. Anyway. Over and out.
[OOC: Of course, if anyone doesn't want their muses to be spoiled about event details IC, feel free to assume they didn't catch her message- rule of fun applies!]

Master of IllusionCaptain. Hmmm... Well, who knows if that's even there anymore.]Singing and demons, huh? Sounds just like home. I mean, literally some of that sounds similar to my home world. But thank you so much for all of this, that's all very helpful to know.
Okay, first question, was it immune to normal blades or magical blades or both?
[Does it really matter because she's a Summer and she sure as hell (hah) made sure she has mastered her fire abilities by now...? Always good to know anyway considering she has a magical sword as her weapon.]

Your home was like that?
[Huh. Well, all worlds were strange in their own way... A small smile came into Mukuro's face at the thanks, a little of the tension easing from her shoulders.
Still, she thought to herself a moment about their attacks on the demons...]
We had a regular combat knife, a sword with ranged combat enchantments and a pistol with elemental magic bullets... none of them had much effect at thinning the enemy numbers. Other load-outs or higher numbers might prove more effective, though.

Yep. Singing while fighting against most demons of my home world, or being both international k-pop superstars and also secretly demon hunters to save the world. It's what me and my best friends do all the time back home.
[And yes, she said most demons. But if she'll get to do the same here too in a dimension full of demons?? Count her in, sign her up, can she go already???]
Huh. That's a lot of useful stuff, that you had there with you. And true, there's always strength in numbers and it's dangerous to go alone. Of course whatever works on them might -- or most likely will -- also vary from demon to demon or whatever else may be out there.
[Sure sounds like she's one of those experienced combatants from the whole hunter thing and all that too.]
Danganronpa 3 Spoilers
[The battlefields she'd been on in the past would have sure been different if they'd been like that, huh? But instead, all that came to mind was when she'd sung over the top of that very early killing game- she wasn't the one fighting then, but that discordant image hung around all the same.]
...
[Wait, this person had said something else too, hadn't she? Mukuro gave a quick nod. It sounded like she knew what she was talking about.]
Yeah, I doubt all the demons are affected by the same things. We need to approach carefully.

Mmhmm, a tactic, that I highly recommend to everyone.
[ . . . She . . . May be still super bad at doing so herself, especially after all of her years as a hunter or well, she's been that for literally all of her life.]

...You'll have an advantage if it is similar to the way you fought back home, but don't let your guard down.

[Rinku gulps. She tenses up and grabs her seashell pendant to ground herself.]

...Guess if the Guild Leaders need that portal gun, they realised they couldn't leave the entrance sealed any longer.

[She swallows hard and nods.]
Okay. We -- we gotta go there and find it. And fight if we have to. For everyone who's here and needs to stay safe.

Not in a hurry to go back, but if that's our next deployment then I'll obey my orders.
You don't have to go to the front lines if you'd be better equipped providing support.

...My combat training takes over when it gets too much and my emotions get jammed. I stop feeling things as much, and it's like my mind takes a step back. It disconnects, I guess, and my body feels like its moving by itself? Or- like I'm controlling an AFV rather than me. I don't know how to explain it.
[A frown. Somewhere between getting consumed by despair and slipping into her Battle Trance. More often than not, she outright dissociated when her mind was overwhelmed. Not that she really had the knowledge to use the right terms.]
But I rarely get afraid on a battlefield. Fighting doesn't frighten me, it comes more naturally than anything else.
Although... Panic attacks are different. There's breathing techniques that can help, but that doesn't always work.
