These flowers...
[He's examining the little charm usually attached to his phone. It's a small red bloom.]
Do they always mean something of significance to the owner? [The charm gets a small wiggle.] This is a red datura, a toxic flower symbolising deception, danger, magic, and forbidden knowledge. Flattering, I'm sure you'd agree.
[As well as having some more personal meaning to Sylus himself.]
It also bears the warning that something beautiful may also be deadly.
[And it matches his eyes. He flips the charm idly between his fingers.]
But putting some small thought to it made me wonder if there is some rhyme or reason to the flowers assigned for our rebirth into this world. Mine has an undeniable connection to me. But what of others?

The red spider lily is closely associated with death. I can't say 'tis inappropriate for me, but I certainly would have rather had another flower.

[ She lifts her charm to the phone's camera, which kind of makes the screen a little blurry for a second before revealing a bougainvillea. ]

It's a jasmine-
[There's a "mrow?" off camera, only for Zayne to kneel down whispering "Sorry, I didn't mean to call you." Cats.]
It's supposed to mean good fortune. It's also associated with the moon but I do enjoy the scent.
[That's absolutely everything. Nothing else.]

Anyway, don't think there's any forkin' rhyme or reason. For some, it's personal, and for some it ain't. Maybe for some, it's somewheres in between.
My flower don't really gotta connection, don't even fudgin' think it was native to Aeragan-Epharshel. But...[He adjusts his hat for a section, tipping it down slightly.] the name's gotta connection, so, there's that.

[ There is a (poorly composed, partially obscured by fingers) picture of some kind of succulent. That's technically a cactus! It's actually very appropriate. (Or rather, it's common houseleek, which is a tiny plant symbolizing protection and supposedly warding off lightining strikes, so also very appropriate. Too bad he'll never know that!) ]

Ajisai is the flower of my birth month. Some of its assigned meanings do suit me, though I would not put any more significance on it than a horoscope of another sort. It feels a lot like those "What flower are you?" online quizzes which are vague enough that anyone taking it can be sorted into a few broad cathegories.
