There's something I've been thinking about for a bit now and I wanted a bit of advice for it.
Let's just say you're hiding a secret from someone. A big one. This secret does involve them, but they're not aware of it. It's something that would probably get me into big trouble if I told them back home.
So I guess what I'm asking is: should I tell them here?

I learned the hard way that hiding shit never, ever ends well. Especially in a place like this where the unexpected isn't exactly uncommon. You might get bitten by a neon orange singing frog whose venom forces you to tell the truth or something.
And I dunno, I never feel good when I find out that someone's been keeping something from me. The deception, even by omission, always feels worse than whatever the news is.

I don't know if it would hurt them. When I found out myself, it was really painful. But the person I want to tell this to is... well, I don't know them very well. We've only spoken a few times before all of this, really, and they're my senior, but...

It might help to get to know them better, you could figure out whether or how to tell them. Right now, it's all guesswork. But the longer you keep a secret the harder it is to come clean and the more they're going to be bothered that you kept it. Unless they're one of those extremely understanding types who forgives everything immediately.

I've been wanting to, at least. They're the only other person from home here, after all. I'd like to think they're understanding, but I can't be sure.

Is it something they would even want or need to know?
Sometimes it's better to leave people in the dark about things. Some secrets are supposed to stay secret.
Though it also depends on your motive for telling them.

As for why I'd want to tell them, I guess I felt that it might be unfair of me to be telling other people who aren't from our world the secret and not her.

So it's more like do you care if she hears it from someone else instead of you.

And yeah, I do care. I feel like she has to hear it from me, or at least from one of us from back home, if anything.

These worlds and the people brought to them are always pretty unpredictable.
And there's your answer.
Secrets that seem as serious as whatever this is are usually easier to swallow from people you know rather than strangers from completely different universes, so that's probably the best choice.
Even if it'll still cause problems.

The kind of secret I'm holding is something that's easier to tell the people here because they are from another universe.
It doesn't involve them at all, or affect them at all. Not in the same way.

But you should really be careful with that belief.
One day you're gonna run into an empath and you'll be filled with nothing but regrets.
Tell them one sad thing about your life and suddenly they've forgotten what happiness even is or how to feel it and will never remember!

It's good to share your burdens, though, so I guess that's not a bad way to view things.
