[ Have another new arrival, Ellipsa! Set aside the part of how it almost appears as though his especially pale skin seems to have a very subtle sparkle to it, and that his cat-like eyes bear a kinship to faceted jewels, Zero just looks. Tired. He's so drained. ]

Touch, huh. . . I guess it's fine since just holding hands works.

[ Immensely thankful for that. He sighs, anyway. ]

I'd prefer to get some kind of job as soon as I'm able, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open and am a fast learner. I enjoy cooking and am said to be skilled at it, if that's a start. My name is Zero.

[ He's just about to end the video when he pauses, frowning a bit. ]

Don't be. It was better than where they got me in plenty of ways. [ Not saying much, that. Yet it's true. ]

I know we're just meeting, but if you need anything...? We should at least try and support each other.

How are things here? Apart from much better, so far as I've gleaned from my first day.

Hard to say. Things get weird sometimes, but generally a harmless sort of weird. Not always, and most of the danger is out in the segments, so better is accurate.

[ She switches the feed to private at this point ]

Not to pry, but [ she's about to pry ] your fangs. [ Saya smiles a bit wider, so her own fangs show. This appears to go contrary to her habits. ]

And I can't help but notice you bear a striking resemblance to someone I knew. Does the name Ren mean anything to you?

[ The question feels very out of nowhere, which has Zero pausing. He blinks. ]

What about them? I'm a vampire.

[ "Why?" is at the tip of his tongue. He doesn't care if others are aware of it. Back home, on the other hand, despite the existence of vampires having been long since public knowledge by now, the situation is far too complicated.

It's her second remark that stills Zero. Surprised, saddened. . . it brings up a lot. Subtly so, his expression softens. ]

Ren is my daughter.

[ Hm, her fangs must not be as prominent as she thought when she tried to display them. Videos are weird. ]

So am I. My species has a different name, but essentially it's the same thing.

Ren and I were... acquainted. [ Yes that word is doing a lot of work, no Saya will not try to explain. ] In Imeeji. She ran off with Serenity and I haven't seen her since.

[ Purely out of curiosity. It's already a given that a variety of beings and species types will be here. Although, it seems that any abilities and the like have been left intact (not that it particularly matters).

He doesn't need to ask. Ren is her own person and he respects that. ]

I don't believe I ever met Serenity. "Ran off". . . Did she graduate?

I'm not. Sorry. Until you got here I think I was the only one. [ Which sucked, frankly. She's made friends with other inhumans but it's not quite the same (except in one case where it's close enough). ]

Not exactly graduate. They just -- escaped. Found a loophole in the system and got out of there.

Huh. . . Come to think of it, I think it was similar during my time in Imeeji. Just myself, Yuuki, and Ren.

[ That he really knew of, at least. There certainly could have been others. He didn't socialize a whole lot. ]

Good. [ His heart still feels tight with her response regarding Ren. ] . . . That's good.

I guess so. [ Except that who knows what the rest of Hell is like, or if they're okay... ]

Production was not doing well when I was there last. A void opened up over the dead zone. So I'm glad they weren't there for that.

[ A void? He frowns, brows knit. ]

. . .Honestly, my memories are a bit scattered. I was transferred for who knows how long to a different program, then abruptly was back home, before finding myself here, remembering that place all over again. I feel like it's been decades since I was in Tokyo-F, yet my muscle memory has been more or less intact. I'm still able to recall the things one of Taisho's abilities allowed me to.

If there's any logic to worldjumping, I haven't found it. Not much of it makes logical sense.

Can't say I really expect it to by this point, either.

The only upside to that is that I haven't disappointed you, I suppose.

I'm already far from disappointed in knowing that this world is at least better than the last, quite honestly. But it's nice meet someone who gets that, especially with where I'm coming from and all.

It wouldn't take much to be better. We should have higher standards.

But overall, it's much better. I don't suppose I'll ever stop waiting for the downside, though.

You and me both. Nothing's perfect. Guess I'll just need to try not to think too hard about it.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Paranoia like they caused in us takes time to unravel.

Unraveled? Maybe not completely. But then a little paranoia can be a good thing, if it keeps you careful.
