Hello, I'm Sun Wukong. A huntsman in training and not related to any kings, despite my name apparently being similar to someone titled a Monkey King. Trust me, I'm not even close to royalty. Or immortality.
[He thought he'd get that out of the way from his introductions.
That sure is a monkey tail that waves behind him - clearly attached to him. So he is a monkey, at least.]
This came up in a conversation a while back, but I am definitely curious about it.
If you had been given a chance to choose your season, which would you have chosen? Is it the one you have or something else? Do you feel like the season given to you fits you?
[But since it wouldn't be fair if he didn't answer it, too...]
My season is Summer, and I would have chosen it if I had been given a chance. I was born in a desert and my name is Sun, so what's more fitting than summer, really? The emotions that amplify our powers aren't really fitting to my person, but that's about the only thing that doesn't.

You make summer work for you really well, too. Come to think, I don't think I've met any summer power holder who was struggling with their alignment.

If this goes south somehow and I die or whatever, let Shoto know. We moved in together just a week ago.
[Shoto would probably be pretty upset, but after seeing Sun's Aura in action Hijikata thinks it's worth the risk!]

[But he saves the number just in case anyway. He also brought with him an item he can burn, just in case Hijikata goes the stone route.]

[That's an easy task! He sits down comfortably, closes his eyes, and tries to meditate, but he has to many thoughts in his head - of his new home, of his promotion, of his birthday and how nice it was with everybody there. At least he is relaxing! He trusts Sun to not mess this up.]

[All of the aura chants are made by adding their own words to them and Sun just says what he thinks genuinely to make it happen. Once he's done though, he opens his eyes again and--
Ah. There it is. Stone statue Hijikata. Even if he was touching him!! Really rude. Sun takes the small fake token from his pocket and burns it with his summer abilities.]
You know, Hijikata, you're a really great friend. I'm glad I can count on you on quests. You're definitely someone I can count on. So please... come back.

And then, all of a sudden, he can feel something inside him unlock - there's a surge of energy, and then--
He blinks his eyes open as his consciousness returns. What just happened? It felt like all his life force was simultaneously released and burned up, and it happened so fast that he couldn't react in any way. He feels drowsy and weak, but simultaneously energised in a way he wasn't ever before.]
Whoa. I feel like I passed out for a moment there. Did it work?
[He lifts a hand to look at, as if he'd be able to see a change.]

[Sun moves his tail to touch Hijikata's leg, to give him energy.]
Well, you definitely turned into stone for a moment. I just brought you back. So something definitely happened. But you might want to wait until you get energy back before trying.
[Hence his tail.]

I turned to stone, really? That's scary!
[He knew about the risk beforehand, yes, but it didn't even hurt! It probably happened to suddenly and fast for that. He notices Sun's tail channeling energy into him and smiles, then offers both palms to him in addition so he can charge him up faster.]
I want to at least get confirmation that I have the Aura available now! We don't need to do anything beyond that today.
[He isn't sure if this ritual only sapped all of his energy or also some of Sun's, so he doesn't want to overdo it.]

Anyway... while you recharge, try focusing on yourself. Try feeling the aura inside you. It might be a little difficult, but it's nicer to do that than test me punching you to see if you bruise.

[He does try to focus... something does feel different, but it's hard to describe the sensation. It feels both old and new, somehow, like taking an old heirloom vase that's always been in the house in your hands and really inspecting it for the first time.]
I can feel it, I think... is there anything I can do with it right away?

[Sun knows how ambitious he is! He'll definitely incorporate the Aura practice into his daily training. He's pretty excited, having barely any defences in his arsenal up until now.]

[He points to his cheek. Give it your best shot!]

[He hesitates a little. Sun is one of the people who are so nice to him that he has inhibitions about punching him! After a moment, though, he does it - only to see that burst of golden energy spread across Sun's cheek, like ripples across water, essentially absorbing the shock of the impact.]
This is really great!! How do I activate mine? Do I just think of it? Like, "Aura on!"?
