[The camera turns on and Flynn is staring at someone off camera, frowning slightly before he looks back at the recording device. He opens his mouth to speak, then shuts it, and then finally he relaxes. He gives the camera a smile and a nod of acknowledgement]

I was told that this device can record me and put my words onto a network.

[Flynn gives a small wave.]

Consider this a practice round for me. I'm Flynn Scifo, and I hope to get along with everyone.

[He looks back over to whoever is off camera and cocks his head to the side.]

Is that good?

[The blond looks back at the camera and gives a sheepish grin.]

[With that the video cuts off.]

I've also talked to a bunch of people. Everyone seems so welcoming.

[He goes quiet again his fingers brushing over the table as he clears his throat and smiles at Yuri.]

Yeah, she's... one of the people I'm living with.

[ Did she mention that? Did she not mention that? ...Did she avoid mentioning that on purpose because— ]

Good. I mean, I'm glad to... hear that.

[He's not sure exactly what Venti means by what he says.]

Yes, I'm aware. She told me first off that she was sharing a house with you, then that she was drinking your blood.

Also, that she was married to a man, who I also talked to. Kantera, right?

[He wants to touch Yuri, to check him over and make sure he's okay, but that would be meddlesome on his part.]

[ —And relaxing more, because he definitely didn't feel like he could spill those particular beans without her okay. ]

...Yeah, she is. I, uh — kind of became a pretty regular blood donor back in Tokyo-F.

She and Doc — Kantera — are one of the couples I mentioned.

[ The good news is: he lost the tongue ring and the tail when he showed up here, so it's just the longer hair that's really changed. ]

[Well she kind of did tell him a lot while he was overwhelmed but he remembered that much at least. He looked at Yuri and smiled slightly.]

You've always taken care of your friends.

[He cleared his throat and looked away.]

Who is the other couple?

[fullgauntlet]

[Oh, he knew that might be a bit complicated to explain. Video games...]

Yeah, maybe in this case it would be easier if you saw one for yourself? And tried playing one?

[He thinks about it.]

Could you show me sometime? I mean, I want to get settled.

Flynn. (She corrects herself with a smile.)

Mmmhmm. We may have a mutual acquaintance.

[ "acquaintance" ]

[ Indeed.

Venti gives him A Look ]

Are you seriously asking that?

[bravestknight]

Let me guess, you know Yuri.

[outofoffice]

Wow, good guess!

Does this happen to you a lot?

[bravestknight]

Here? Yes. He seems to know everyone.

[at_heart]

...I have to be fine.

[ Very, very soft. ]

No time's even passed for him. Probably last saw me yesterday. And he doesn't... he wasn't in Tokyo-F with us. Different Flynn.

[at_heart]

[ You don't know the half of it. Literally. He's fed several other vampires. ]

Heh. Right.

[ Friends. They are friends, but... ]

Uh, Venti and Lumine. Have you... met either of them yet?

[bravestknight]

The names don't sound familiar.

[He tells him with a small smile. He looks back down as he picks up a fork and starts to draw his pointer finger along the prongs.]

I'm sure I'll meet them soon if I am going to move in.

[fullgauntlet]

Oh...! Sure, I can do that! Whenever you're settled and available to go I don't mind showing you.

[At this rate, Izuku's going to he a tour guide!]

That sounds like a plan. I'm sure there are many things I don't understand that are going to be fun to see.

[He's a very polite young man, Flynn approves!]

[ BOY, DOES HE ]

So what are you going to do?

[ Venti is NOT gonna be the one to tell Flynn how well Yuri knows everyone ]

Well, I'm sure you know him better than any of us -- he's quite the social butterfly.

We happen to live together.

[ As if it's a whimsical accident that just happened ]

We are childhood friends. He always draws people to him without trying, it's nice to see that he's made lots of friends here.

[He nods to Venti.]

How many people live with you all?

[ A very lopsided little smile. ]

Take him somewhere for lunch?

[ Before it slips away, because Venti's earned the right to honesty. ]

I remember all of it now. [ His fingers curl in the material of the couch. ] We were inseparable until we were eighteen. And then we joined the Imperial Knights — something we'd dreamed of doing as kids. Thought we'd... get to protect people that way. Be a force for good.

[ Beat. ]

As you might've guessed from all the past-tense, it didn't really work out that way. Foot soldiers don't get to choose who they protect. Who they police.

I lasted all of three months before I couldn't take it anymore. And we had the biggest fight. [ Huffs out a breath. ] More accurate to say we'd been fighting, I guess, for weeks at that point. But this was the blowout. The one where we both said the kind of thing you can't just apologize for.

[at_heart]

I left the Knights. He stayed behind. And for the next three years, we just... weren't in each other's lives.

[ Shoulders curling in, just a little. ]

We were only just starting to figure out how to exist together again. I don't... [ Trails off, wets his lips. ] I don't want to blow things up again.

[ The weakest attempt at humor: ]

I mean, who knows how long we'd go without speaking this time? S'not like being forced to band together to save the world comes along every day.

Of course you want to be careful. You're that kind of person.

But if you re-entered each other's lives, then that seems evidence enough to me that your differences are not irreconcilable. And if you're lucky, you'll have plenty of time here to work through them.

Just don't hide from him.
