[The camera turns on and Flynn is staring at someone off camera, frowning slightly before he looks back at the recording device. He opens his mouth to speak, then shuts it, and then finally he relaxes. He gives the camera a smile and a nod of acknowledgement]

I was told that this device can record me and put my words onto a network.

[Flynn gives a small wave.]

Consider this a practice round for me. I'm Flynn Scifo, and I hope to get along with everyone.

[He looks back over to whoever is off camera and cocks his head to the side.]

Is that good?

[The blond looks back at the camera and gives a sheepish grin.]

That's all for now. See you later.

[With that the video cuts off.]

[He suggested gently. He still looked ready to bolt, his shoulders tense. He's not upset, just wants to get to his friend and talk a little bit more.]

[ That tension is pretty much awful to see, but Yuri is maintaining his composure, by all appearances. ]

Get Saya to help you send a ping so I know where you are. I'll pick someplace and we'll meet you there.

[ A woof! of affirmative from Repede, and Yuri has never been more grateful not to have shown up alone here. Repede will be such a good buffer. ]

Okay I will.

[He sends a ping after a few moments so that Yuri can see they are just at a small tea shop somewhere within the city. It's a good walk away, but not so far that it's not easy to get to.

Flynn pokes at the screen and looks at Yuri.]

Did it send?

Yep.

Got a horse here, so I'll beat you wherever we're meeting. Are you hungry?

[ You're in a tea house, and he already said he'd bring Repede with him, so this is more than a little bit dumb, but he's struggling. ]

You have a horse? Surprisingly enough, I do too.

[He tells the other, but he notices the other asks him if he's hungry, and he just smiles slightly.]

I could go for something a little heavier than a tea sandwich. Are you buying?

[at_heart]

You having a horse isn't surprising. Just makes sense for a Knight.

[ Immediate. Dismissive. ] [ And then, his gaze off to the left somewhere, ]

Yeah. I'll spot you for lunch.

[bravestknight]

You know that's not what I mean. The fact she's here is surprising, not that I have a horse.

[He eyes Yuri a bit.]

What's surprising is you have a horse.

[He shrugs it off though and smiles as he nods to his friend off camera and then looks at him.]

I'll meet you now? Or how long do you need?

[at_heart]

Heh. You might recognize her.

[ On account of Thistle being the horse he was assigned when he was in the Knights. ]

And give me...

[ Insert an ACCURATE ESTIMATE here. Probably not too long? But Yuri's player is too lazy to double-check the locations page. ]

[He nods and hums.]

I'll head out from here at that time. Since you'll have your horse I'll be able to spot you without a problem.

[at_heart]

Yeah.

[ A beat, and he almost starts to sign off, before realizing that it. Might be important for Flynn to see what he's wearing. He fiddles with his phone for a moment, then the camera pulls out more, revealing cute casual clothes. His hair's down, at least, so he's not... completely strange-looking. Hopefully. ]

So you know what to look for.

[bravestknight]

[He commits the other's clothing to memory and smiles at him.]

Looks comfortable. Should be easy to spot too if you're riding your horse.

[Yuri's choices in clothing really don't bother him, in fact the other looks cute. But that's not the sort of thing he's going to admit outloud, to his best friend.]

[ oh sure laugh at him in uniform, complain about his bathing suit color coordination, but keep it to yourself when he's put something together that isn't humiliating ]

—Well. I should probably hang up. Don't text and drive. Or whatever you say when it's a horse.

[bravestknight]

[He doesn't want him to hang up. Is that bad? He's afraid that he will hang up and disappear. Flynn reluctantly nods and lets out a slow breath.]

Okay, I'll see you in a bit. Yuri, be careful coming here.

[at_heart]

Be careful?

[ This ripple of — something. Indignation. Nostalgia. Fondness. What an ass. ]

The city's perfectly safe, most of the time. Plus I'll have Repede with me.

[bravestknight]

You know that's not what I mean.

[He tells the other softly, flicking his eyes from the camera.]

I can't wait to see you both.

[at_heart]

[ —well screw you too. Rubbing the back of his neck, no eye contact with the video at all, ]

...you too.

[ AND HANGING UP. Hanging up so fast. ]

[Yuri doesn't see this, but he presses a hand over his face and sighs gently. Before he hangs up the video himself.]

[ It is about the CORRECT ESTIMATE OF TIME later when Yuri turns up. On the back of a gray 'horse', or the furry gazelle-horse-hybrid-thing with a ratlike face that they call horses on Terca Lumireis. He will forever maintain that Thistle is smarter than an Earth Horse.

Repede's in his lap, and barks sharply as soon as Flynn's in view.

Flynn. Fuck him, honestly. He should've delayed. ]

[It took a while to walk, but he sees Yuri and he sees the horse, and hears Repede's bark and whatever was tightly coiled in his chest, slowly starts to unwind leaving him feeling more tired than anything, but satisfied.

He raises a hand and comes up along the horse, turning his eyes on her first, stroking her mane and then reaching for Repede's head, ruffling the top of it.]

Hey Repede.

[He finally looks up at Yuri, and gives him a small smile.]

Hey.

[at_heart]

[ Should've lied about how long it would take. Shouldn't have made the maps sound so accurate. Shouldn't have answered at all.

Stupid impulses, all of them, but he just isn't ready for this conversation, and the travel time wasn't enough to fix that.

Repede is wriggling to go down, though, and Yuri releases him before sliding lightly off Thistle's back as well. No fancy moves, no backflips, just... a normal dismount. ]

Hey.

[bravestknight]

[Flynn kneels to pay attention to Repede for the moment, petting the dog and just happy to see him. Finally, he notices that Yuri has dismounted, and he stands back up.]

I'm glad to see you.

[He takes in a breath and again looks at Yuri's outfit, and then back at him.]

You look nice. Is that the fashion here?

[at_heart]

[ Most people don't get to pet Repede at all. Flynn's always been special. He gets a soft woof of affirmation in response to that statement, and Yuri flusters a little despite himself. Stupid. ]

One of them, anyway. The districts all have different styles.

[bravestknight]

[He smiles and shakes his head.]

I can already tell I'm going to have a hard time fitting in clothing wise.

[He let's out a breath, and he wants to reach out but decides better of it. Flynn doesn't want to come off as being upset or scared. His fingers curl into a fist by his side and loosens it after a moment.]

Do you want to eat before we talk?

[at_heart]

You really won't. There's no standard here. [ Beat. Admits, ] But I still felt like I needed something for nights out, so. S'not too expensive to get yourself other changes of clothes here.

[ Going to tether Thistle to, like, a bike rack or something; Blossomcrown isn't the horse district, that's Sunwaning. ]

We can do both. Eat and talk.

[bravestknight]

Nights out, huh?

[He smiles and shakes his head.]

Why am I not surprised?

[He listens and walks with him till he can find a tether. While he's busy with that, Flynn looks around and gets his bearings.]

You're right, we can eat and talk.
