[Video] un: runyu

[ A new face appears, but there are glimmers of fury in the slight narrow cant of dark eyes and the set of his lips. Still, Runyu inclines his head, just a little - lashing out without thought is something he won't do. Never again. ]

The powers of those who brought us all here must indeed be great. Even more so for their requirements to keep us complacent and healthy.

With that in mind, I have some healing ability. If any are in need that this requirement has not seen to, I offer myself to see about helping.

Feel free to call for me should you have such a need. I am Runyu. Speak, I will hear you.

[ Runyu blinks a bit as someone actually acts to help fix something he'd commented on as bothering him. He doesn't have to act alone. He has to take a moment to compose himself and lets his eyes close to savor the quiet without being alone. ]

You are a rare man, Xiao Xingchen. Mortal, Immortal, Demon, God...You are rare, and I feel blessed to have this chance to know you.

[Xingchen sees nothing strange in doing so! His friend deserves peace and quiet and he has used the talisman on his room too. With the city never sleeping, it's much better to have things...silenced.

Cheeks pink, he bows to his friend.]

I'm nothing special. I only desire to help and make sure my friends are comfortable.

[ He smiles softly and immediately reaches out to lift Xingchen back up. ]

I've never had many friends, not true ones. I'm not used to it.

[He smiles gently and takes hold of Runyu's hands.]

I'll be a good friend to you. You don't have to worry.

[ Runyu isn't used to casual touch. But Xingchen is warm without being overwhelmingly hot. ]

I'm not worried. And I will follow your lead and learn to be a good friend to you too.

[Those cold hands need to be held! Besides touch staves off loneliness.]

I think you know how to do that on your own. You have been very good to your little friend.

[ Company without expectations does even more. ]

He was made to be my companion, I think, but we have learned how to work together.

[ The one gift his father had given him that he treasures above all else. Runyu rubs over the little creature's head again. ]

Was he? What a lucky boy. [Xingchen bends down and rubs the Dream Beast's fuzzy cheek.] Devour Runyu's bad dreams, little one.

[He stands up and sighs.]

Are you hungry? I can bring you a meal since it's your first night.

I'm lucky too. [ Which is why he tries to spoil the sweet little creature. ]

Whenever is convenient for you.

Come over to my apartment and I'll get started. [Xingchen beams and leads the way. His apartment is neat and clean and quiet. He has bought some comforting items - blankets and pillows - and those are spread around the sitting room.]

[ Runyu and the Dream Beast follow him next door and he smiles as he looks around the cozy apartment. It feels like Xingchen. ]

How long have you been here?

Three months. [Xingchen wraps a fluffy blanket around the Dream Beast and kisses his nose.] Please make yourself comfortable.

[ The dragon laughs softly at the coo the Dream Beast answers being bundled up in a soft blanket. But the little creature wiggles until clearly comfortable and - wonders of wonders, drifts off. ]

He only sleeps when I'm around and safe.

[ Runyu trusts the little one's judgement more than his own, really. He takes a seat where he can easily keep Xingchen company while he works. ]

Are you comfortable?

[The coo goes straight to his heart and Xingchen beams. His fuzzy little friend can nap here any time he likes and he won't be disturbed.]

You are both safe, I give you my word.

[He motions to Shuanghua by the door. The sword does a good job of alerting him if he has company.]

Yes, I am. I was feeling a bit...homesick. But I think you have cured me of that.

You are safe with us too.

[ Runyu looks over at the beautiful sword guarding the door and smiles softly at it. He can sense a spirit inside it. ]

I'm glad you have your sword friend with you. And that...we have helped you with your homesickness.

I won't take that for granted.

[Shuanghua is a proud blade that shines brighter upon sensing Runyu's gaze. Almost like moonlight.]

I wouldn't be complete without him. [Xingchen walks into the kitchen to begin cooking.] This place is so...different...from everything I know.

Nor will we, my friend.

[ That brighter shine makes him smile warmer as the part of him that's loved guiding the night sky acknowledges and accepts that similarity. ]

Yes. I have occasionally explored the mortal world of my realm. It's different from here.

What is your mortal world like? Mine doesn't have buildings nearly this tall or strong. Even the largest village is smaller than this city.

[He cuts up ingredients and heats some water over the stove.]

Perhaps much like your own. I think there are a few places you might like there.

I'm sure. [He smiles and begins cooking some meat - since he is in the presence of a dragon!] I wish I could show you my Master's mountains.

[ So few bother to keep his own wishes in mind, that it doesn't occur to him Xingchen might be cooking more than he usually would. ]

Dream of them tonight. The Dream Beast can eat them and show us both tomorrow, if you want.

[He doesn't mind! Having company is better than being alone. Vegetables and meat are soon put on the table - along with fresh baked bread, tea and wine.]

I would like that! I can meditate before I sleep and dream about my time as a pupil.

[Xingchen smiles and adds:]

Dinner is ready.

[ Something to look forward to! Runyu admires the food his new friend has prepared and brought out for them to share and pours them both a cup of tea. ]

Then I will have him stay with you tonight. He has trouble with doors, though manages when he feels he is needed.

Thank you, my friend. It all smells wonderful.

[Xingchen blinks and smiles slowly at the offer. The Dream Beast can...sleep over? He knows just where the little one will be tucked in too.]

Thank you, Runyu. If he needs to get out, I'm easy to wake. I'll help him.

[He sits down at the table and sips on the tea.]

Good food can warm a person, I've found.

[ Somehow Runyu doubts either of his friends will mind this! ]

Good. Do not worry about waking me at night, I usually sleep a few hours at a time during the day.

[ And he's not talking about just tonight. It's an open ended offer.

Runyu also sips at his tea, enjoying the subtle flavors. ]

The food in the Heavens of my realm is always the same. Very little variety. It is one reason I would spend what time I could in the Mortal World.
