Hi all.

I've found in my travels that the best ways to get to know a community are to see what people do in their off time and find out where they go. So. Tell me anything.

What are your favorite places to eat?

What do you do with your time?

What are popular activities or hobbies around here?

For my own interestes, I have a few specifics:

Where is the nearest record shop?

Does anyone need an archival specialist? Data engineer? Librarian?

Also-- Does anyone know of a half decent mechanic that will follow instructions?

Oh no, you're ADORABLE.

I'm Athena-- [And at this point, Iggy gets sent a picture of a lanky nerd of indeterminate gender. They're all skinny limbs, brightly colored clothes, and their dark hair is piled up in a messy bun.

There is a fluffy white cat loaf sitting on the sofa nearby.]

I can't wait to meet you in person, Iggy. You're already extremely fun to talk to.

That's a new one, and I will take it!

Honestly? I love your style, a few others I know back home would very likely dig it. The cat is cute, too.

The cat has respectable levels guts and attitude. I admire her for it, if we're being honest.

Take your time, Iggy. I need to somehow get this electric cat into my roomy's room!

Cats do not seem to care to let their size stop them from many, many things. It's respectable, and they can maneuver out of a lot of things that I've seen.

Will do. Got any treats they might like? Sometimes food can be the key, if electric cats like treats.

I did notice my roomy filleting some fish the other day. That could be a help. Cats usually like fish...

Won't hurt to try, probably. Sometimes the smell alone can be enough, but would be kinda mean not to have the actual treat at the end, too. Hopefully enough left to offer.

Oh, no.

The cat will get the fish. If Cor complains, I'll make him foot the bill here.

A safe way to corral what's his cat after all, right?

Reminded me to make sure the cat that's decided to live with me is all good before I'm out the door.

Kitties deserve to live safely inside with their caretakers. They find trouble way to easily outside, and it's no fun seeing your fluffy friends be hurt.

Makes sense! I've never had anything like a cat before, and apparently there was a lot of them that escaped a shelter here? Called them void cats and it kinda fits this one well.

An adorable void with bright eyes that has taken over the apartment, and I'm not even mad about it. Just need a name eventually.

But with kitty settled I think I can head over now, if it's good on your end.

A void with bright eyes sounds incredibly cute. Honestly? That's a great description for a cat, too.

I've got Aurora settled in my roomy's room. You can drop in any time.

One of a few reasons I'm not even mad about the company in an otherwise empty apartment- they are very cute.

A knock on the door and a text to go along with it just in case. A simple it's Iggy!]

Hi Iggy!

[The voice that answered was bright and chipper despite the circumstances, and the same person from the picture sent earlier answered the door. Their smile was equally bright despite the disheveled hair and the sling that supported one of their arms.]

You're seriously just the gal I was waiting for. If no one answered my questions, I was getting ready to walk my roomy or his boss through it.

Steady hands. You get it.

Hey, Athena.

[Only name she'd gotten- and heck if she wasn't going to use it unless corrected, honestly. Those eyes of hers brightened up in show of a smile, helping to close the door behind when she could step in-]

Oh yeah, and repairs on arms and the like is something I've got practice in for my friends and I back home. Things happen and just- yeah. So, more than happy to help.

[Iggy's tone was bright, and there may have been a slight British accent, but that just happened where she was from.]

Use of a limb is pretty important, after all. Steady hands came with the old job, and I come with my own palm light if any sort of precise lighting in needed.

Oh that's impressive!

[And they weren't just saying that. Ushering Iggy in, Athena showed her over to the haphazard work space they had set up in Cor's absence. It consisted of repurposing the kitchen table for the moment... And dragging over lamps from all over the apartment, in different sizes and brightness levels, for whatever was needed in the moment.]

I don't think it'll be too hard. The electric cat shorted one of the circuits out. I'd fix it myself if I had all my equipment... But the admins here left me with my record player, not my tool box.

Happens when you're meant to specialize in something- now I mostly listen to music and try to help others out back home.

[Still, Iggy was carefully tugging off those fingerless gloves and tucking them away into a pocket. Better to not chance it with something even like leather possibly restricting anything when it came to working on something important.]

I only had my record player and a few vinyl too- and a pair of headphones that work with my record player, anyway. Short circuits though, I can definitely help with that, and of course listen to whatever directions you give since you're the most familiar with the arm.

It's honestly not likely to be very hard if you know schematics at all. My gaming partner and engineering buddy made sure of that.

[A soft huff and a fond smile accompanied the statement-- as if the absent engineer was an old friend.]

I'm honestly kinda glad Ares isn't here. After everything I've done recently, he'd chew me out!

Got some memorized, so hey, should be good.

[There was that soft flickering of blue- brightening briefly that at least helped indicate that bit of a smile that couldn't physically show much otherwise.]

Hit the ground doing a little more than just running? Think I've got a friend back home that would be glad I've managed to keep out of trouble so far.

[The suggestion of a smile was more than enough. Athena smiled back, gladdened to have found someone that had a bit of understanding.]

It was some personal business-- I ran into some cops on a trip to pick up something for the archival collections at the University, and.... well, you know cops.

[A one shouldered shrug. Cops were cops, no matter what universe they were in.]

I hadn't done anything wrong, so I tried to shake them and ran waaaay off course.

Uh.

Un-registered planet kinda off course.

It's been crazy and I should have just stayed back and helped run drills to test the limits for the AI piloted ship the engineering department is working on.

Oh, I know cops alright. Get enough of them called just because I walked into a parts store and wanted to buy something I had the cash for.

[So that was a thing, and there was a faint huff when it was spoken but- also just expected at this point back home.

Iggy still hummed a little as lights flickered brighter briefly.]

Some unplanned adventure and in way deep without meaning to be, sounds like. Crazy putting it lightly.
