[ The video turns on, and it's clear he's propped his phone up on a counter in the apartment kitchen, so that he can use his hands freely. He's visible from the chest up and is wearing the suit that he arrived in. There's Minato standing in the background, a little ways back, hand in a bag of chips as he seems to be listening in while enjoying a snack. ]

I'd almost say that I hate that I have to do this, but I do not. I want to put it out there to maybe help the number of questions that I've gotten lately.

Yes.

I am, in fact, a real deer. An actual deer. The herbivore that many are probably familiar with in some way or another.

[ As he takes a chip and eats it, Minato gives a thumbs-up in the background. Louis tilts his head and seems to acknowledge him for a moment before he gets back to it, unbothered by his roommate's presence. ]


I'm more like the people you might be used to seeing than the herbivores you know. See, fingers.

[ He lifts up his hands. ]

I have toes, too.

[ Minato chimes in from the background: ]

And no hooves.

[ Louis nods. ]

And no hooves. Any questions?

[ Oh, he appreciates the compliment. He likes his antlers. ]

They shed in winter. They do grow back fairly quickly - for me that's only a couple weeks. But it all depends on the deer. It'd be pretty convenient if antlers didn't shed, though.

It's lucky to not have to deal with it.

I can only imagine. I shed my scales, but it is not a very involved process.

... I am sorry, I do not have many questions. I know of other beastmen, although none are deer, nor do they usually have the face of the animal they are related to.

There's some species at home who do that, as well.

I'm not considered a Beastman. I'm a deer, which is probably why my face actually resembles one. All of the people where I'm from are animals.

Beastman sounds like it might be a bit different.

Mmmhh, maybe. You are mortal, right?

[He doesn't want to assume! Maybe the deer man is fae? Wouldn't that be neat!]

I suppose the beastmen I know all have faces in the same shape as a human's, but they have ears and tails and heightened senses of smell or hearing and the like. The carnivores need to eat meat, and I suspect any who are herbivores prefer not to.

I am. I'm an animal, though. As are all where I'm from.

Our diets aren't really a choice. I can't even digest meat.

My apologies for the question. I am a fae myself, so I figure I should ask. I do not want to assume that everyone not me has the lifespan of a human, as I've met plenty of other fae before, and most look different.

[He nods then! That makes sense!!! If Leona needs to have meat in his diet, then it would make sense if herbivores needed to Not have meat in theirs.]

So everyone where you are from is like you, then? That sounds very interesting. I do wish I could see. I suspect I would be getting many questions in your world, so long as they do not immediately flee from me.

No need to apologize. Well, all land animals are like me. From the mice to the bears. Bugs are the same as other worlds from what I can gather. Unless the other world has like monstrous bugs. Ours are small.

[ He seems pretty unoffended. He hasn't been asked any particularly personal questions, so he has no issues answering. ]

You'd get some, I wager. They'd probably ask about your horns and ...face, since it's pretty distinctly not an animal. The same sort of questions I get in a crowd of people who are not animals.
