audio; un: nenonen

[ the audio recording opens up with someone breathing heavily. Not the kind of panting that follows physical exercise, but an uneven, stuttered sort that belies disbelief. shock. ]

...It's tomorrow. It's tomorrow. Ohhh dip, oh dip, oh--heck. Dip. Dip dip diiip, it's really here. Ahahaha...ha...haha...ahhh... It didn't end. It didn't end and it didn't start over and the sky didn't melt and it's tomorrow...!

Please tell me you guys noticed--it's not just me noticing this right?? Someone answer me and tell me you noticed!

[ this may seem like a bit of an odd thing to post on the network but L I S T E N. When you've been trapped in a 13-day time loop for 186.604 years, TomorrowTM really matters. Nenonen's, like, ready to hyperventilate here SOMEONE CONFIRM THIS IS TOMORROW PLS?? ]

[Man, if he could smile, he'd probably have a big goofy one right now. Just because they felt they had to turn on the video, all because he did so first.
Instead, they just get Chipp's usual "smile" - something flat with the edges just barely turned upward.]

Nenett. Emphasis on the end, there. 'Cause like you said, French is weird.
'S why I don't pronounce things like a lotta other people 'round here, too.

[Y'know, like how he can't say his TH's and swaps nearly all of them out for D's despite the fact that I don't actually type it that way.]

'N I bet lotsa people would disagree with that, but thank you kindly all the same. Ain't had anyone say somethin' like that before -
Usually I scare folks.

[It's like, 80% on purpose. He likes his privacy and scaring people keeps them away, y'know??
"But isn't he a DJ, doesn't he like performing for people--" yes! Online.]

... Although, despite all that, I do have some automated stuff back home. Lotsa robots, some of'em ones I sold to the big cities for big money.
Talkin' AI gotta have a voice to talk with, right?

If you'd like that from me, then yes, I'd be happy to.

[There's just a hint - a hint - of humor in his own tone, saying as much. He's tickled that Nen's suggesting that, as if he might have done it without their provocation -
Mostly because, well, they're right. If they'd left it at "I don't know", he definitely would have followed up with "I do know, let me teach you".]

AI stands for "Artificial Intelligence". It's codin' so complex, it can think for itself. To a point, anyway; so far, no living man's made one that can get that deep.
But mine obviously have magic goin' through it all, too. The magic I use works special with technology, so it ain't too hard to "magic up" a real AI if I need it.

You don't seem fine. [ Such a strange statement to make and it does worry Shigeru a good deal. From what he's gathered through their conversations Nen definitely doesn't come from a normal world at all. ]

So...you're stuck in a fixed point in time back home or something? Like some weird time loop?!

Your situation at home was that dreadful?

[ He considers the message he just sent for a moment ]

Would you rather talk in person?

Those times I can recall the world went silent were the days not a single survivor remained.
Perhaps your world was different. Who could say?

I'm pretty sure that the logic of another world would operate differently from the one that you're from. But I suppose it's good that it isn't...

Usin' the tools you been given ain't cheatin', hun.
Unless you in a contest and they say you ain't allowed to use'em, of course.

[A point he's only bringing up because he would, in fact, do exactly that.]

But I actually had that happen once. Needed a remote control robot to do its own thing for a while and do some stuff in my place, 'cause I'd caught some kinda nasty bug.
By the time I was better and could actually do shit again, it apparently got pissed and fucked off somewhere else.

Didn't find it 'till way later, beat up and out in the big cities' junk heap with its AI completely gone...

( NEN?????? )

It certainly is, by my star's standards! We choose when to return to the star unless something extraordinary happens.
