[The camera flicked on, with a bearded man in a lab coat adjusting the lens, squinting at it, before nodding in confirmation, glancing back at a man out of view of the camera. Some people may recognize the visible man as the Professor who had been sticking around the Pokémon vending machine, giving advice to others upon receiving their Pokémon.]
I believe the camera is working properly-- shall we begin?
It is- and angled properly now as well, so we shall indeed begin.
[Just once last extra-check to ensure the phone was well propped, and wouldn't slip if any of the pokémon out of view decided to investigate/get nosy while this was being done. An older man finally came into view, smoothing down a jacket and adjusting round glasses- some would likely easily recognize Clavell as the other person that had been sticking around the vending machine dispensing pokémon, motioning to Turo that he could take whatever place he desired for this.
Turo moved to stand next to Clavell, also adjusting his lab coat collar, he paused--]
...Clavell, I believe it is already broadcasting.
[Whoopsie.
Clavell squinted towards the broadcasting phone, another idle adjustment to how his glasses were position on his face.]
—Ah, so it is. Well, good a time as any to get started on the announcement then, no?
Indeed.
[Though the taller man did seem slightly ill at ease, he cleared his throat--]
Hello, fellow Otherworlders. My name is Professor Turo, from the Region of Paldea.
And I am Director Clavell, also from the Region of Paldea. We're here to announce that, after a lot of work during our own free time, we've managed to adapt a phone application from our world to work on these phones here.
[Better to get down to business, simply to help push ahead and hope Turo settled some as they continued on.]
As some of you are aware, a vending machine located at the Underground Mall has been giving out creatures known as ‘Pokémon’. These beings are native to our homeworld, and we’ve both worked to help further the study of them.
[So to speak, in his case… but regardless.]
Our companion, Jacq, developed what is called a ‘Pokédex’, an encyclopaedia of all known Pokémon in Paldea. Due to the fact Pokémon from outside our Region have been appearing here, we felt it prudent to make a version of the Pokédex accessible to all of you, updated with all known Pokémon.
[Clavell tipped his head, a small gesture made towards the camera- more indicating the phone broadcasting them—]
We have also added the necessary information to help you care for your new Pokémon companions; from dietary needs to helping keep a level of cleanliness and happiness. All in an effort to help build what can hopefully grow into a strong bond between you and them, as Pokémon are very wonderful creatures.
[Whatever they could think of that needed to be known about every pokémon within the Pokédex that could be helpful, since between Turo and Clavell they certainly knew quite a bit about pokémon as a whole.]
I have done my best to ensure the application is easy to use once downloaded to your phones, given I am used to altering the Pokedex app program here and there due to familiarity with Jacq's work. If there is some trouble, do not hesitate to bring it up to either of us.
Also, there’s two modes for the Pokedex; Normal Mode and Unlocked.
[Turo holding up two fingers to indicate--]
Normal mode works as it was intended for Pokémon Trainers from our world; Pokémon are blacked out until you encounter them-- thus your own Pokémon will show up instantly, and you will be able to unlock more as you meet new Pokémon from your fellows around the city. Unlocked has all Pokémon available to see and learn about, including Pokémon that are rarely seen and often considered Legends or Myths in our world.
[Clavell nodded along as Turo spoke—]
You will be able to choose which Mode to keep your Pokédex application in, and either will still have full information available to you under each Pokémon's entry. So far there are only various starter pokémon to be seen, from that Vending Machine in the Underground Mall, unless you encounter one of the other people from some region of our world; chances are that Pokémon of our own teams are with us.
[Such as the Houndoom that wandered to sit just by Clavell after a long stretch.
And the Rotom that-- started buzzing around the camera.]
--Rotom, please behave.
[The exasperation in Turo’s voice could not be hidden, but after giving the camera a raspberry, the Rotom darted away with a buzzy giggle.
Clavell hid a chuckle behind his hand briefly, the other resting just at the top of Houndoom's head as the pokémon peered at the phone broadcasting them-]
So, we do hope this Pokédex phone application comes in handy for those of you who decide to download it, and again do not hesitate to reach out to either of us as needed.
[There was an attached file, the Download link to the Pokédex application.]
(OOC: The pokédex app does have all known pokémon in it- except for the ancient paradox pokémon, as these two are from Violet rather than Scarlet. Those tagging in may, of course, get replies from both Clavell and Turo. Speaking of- regular font is Clavell, and the purple font is Turo.)

Thoughts of were-snow leopard Clavell haunt me now-]I'm sure he will appreciate the effort, if he notices it- ah, and just as mischievous as Polteageist, or any other Ghost type.
[Ghost Types know how to party? Perhaps.]
no subject
As long as it's the fun kind of mischief, that's fine with me. It's usually the other kind with Abnormalities.
no subject
Usually it is, yes! The only time you get the other is if someone has crossed them in some way, and that is when the real trouble starts. A Ghost Type can hold quite the grudge, or worse, after all.
no subject
I'll make sure to be extra nice to the Ghost types then! Not that I wasn't going to anyway. It's usually a bad idea to anger even the more normally docile types. Like with humans, honestly
no subject
Very, very true in many cases. Some Ghost types were once human themselves before passing and becoming pokémon of that type, after all. Others merely lost spirits, or were once different pokémon. Ghost types tend to be quite fascinating, so I've found at least.

🍿(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) the other thread here
[Really, between his time as a scientist and how he would travel, and then there was taking his hand in raising starters for new students at the Academy. All of the pokémon he had encountered over all of his years.
To narrow it down to just one type—]
I suppose it is even more difficult, given I never had to try and decide a single type to work with given I never wanted to become a Gym Leader. More of a casual trainer in that sense.
rip in fuck, turo
What's a Gym Leader?
[Her first thought is like an exercise instructor for Pokemon.]
we knew him well etc.
[A soft hum in thought-] Ah, this is where it may start to sound strange.
A Gym Leader is a pokémon trainer of excellent skill that other trainers go to battle against- pokémon enjoy battling each other to test their own skills and strength, and so a contest of skill and strength has been built around that. It also improves the bond between pokémon and trainer, showing the amount of trust in calling what needs to be done in some strategy.
This, too, shows the worth of a trainer. Pokémon want a strong trainer that they can rely on, and want to continue remaining at their side. Otherwise should a pokémon grow stronger than their trainer, they will stop listening to them.

The head of Paldea's Pokémon League is also head of the Academy's board, and our Champion. She is always on the look out for trainers that have potential, and one of our students is a Champion level trainer.

[Battling for fun and for recognition instead of for your life... it's wild to think about.]

[Clavell was no slump himself, but he simply let those of his own team spar amongst themselves whenever they felt a want. It was good exercise.]

[There was that odd doom-ish sounding boof in agreement.]
Houndoom are quite ferocious in the wild, and usually to protect their territory and pack. Dangerous, but so very loyal when they decide to follow a trainer.

.......I promise that wasn't a fire type pun, I'm sorry.

It's a pain that never dies down. [There he goes with the trivia that hints they're not just cute things.]

Should I be worried about any of the ones that popped out of the vending machine? They haven't been trained yet, right? And not everyone's good at that kind of thing.
no subject
The Litten I have from it has the habit of catching herself on fire, as most Littens do, to groom away fur. Little common habits like that, while frightening, should hopefully not cause much arm. People will still need to get looked at, just to be safe, if they manage to run into a fire type that isn't happy. They also tend to enjoy fire roasting their own food.
A water type, if they have something like Water pulse, may knock someone over, and Grass type due have rather sharp leaf attacks here and there.

My fear is that far stronger, and more dangerous pokémon may appear- as some of them are... World ending, at worst, if stories and rumors all hold true; these are of course Legendary pokémon for the most part. It was my fear that some might have been trying to go for them when the pokémon in the vending machine first appeared.

If I hear anything, I'll let you know.
no subject
Please do, some of them are far kinder than others at least- if any ever do appear.
