[Huh... somehow he does feel different about male Saya. He didn't expect that. He feels... not quite intimidated, but... challenged, somehow, despite there being nothing cocky or taunting in Saya's expression or body language in the photo.

He doesn't like him as much!!]

But I can't make dramatic shifts like that without destroying my clothes, alas. That's why it took a few minutes to get a picture, I had to change.

Well, there's got to be some kind of catch to it! At least until they develop clothing that transforms along with you.

Clothes are fun but my species tends not to use them in our natural forms. It's a bother.

We're not going to get over it, but I really feel you on this now - the other day I needed wings and had to take all my layers off to grow them. That was a bit of a pain.

[And he didn't even grow them from his back but rather transformed his arms... still, he couldn't fly with his feathers all smushed up in his sleeves!]

Now you know why I always wear backless clothes. Good thing I know how to sew.

Do your abilities, the ones correlated to the lunar cycle, not effect your clothes? [ She's being circumspect here, not wanting to out anyone. She's been outted as an inhuman before and it sucks, even if Hijikata is still human (she thinks that's what he considers himself). ]

[Luckily Hijikata's weredog curse is simply too weak to turn him into more than a classic anime dogboy (outwardly, at least). He's always torn between being glad that he doesn't turn into a full-on monster that would scare other people and feeling like his transformation is kind of pathetic...]

No, the change isn't drastic. I just have to get my tail out of my trousers.

[By now he already knows to wear a low cut throughout the full moon cycle, so even that isn't really an issue anymore.]

I haven't forgotten about your promise to spar one of these times. At some point you'll have to be in the area for the occasion.

[Little does he know that, after spending this month's full moon cycle worrying over Jean's new werewolf affliction, the next one he'll spend as a stone statue after making some very bad decisions with regards to a couple of local Heroic Spirits...]

That sound happen before my next experiment happens, so that works great. [ Yeah Saya will be fighting the Gorgon because honestly why not, luckily she can fight of petrification because Chiropterans are just that damn ridiculous ]

[Right... her next round of experiments. It's hard not to feel dread as he thinks back on how disastrously the last round went. He resolves to find some kind of good luck spell for Saya (which seems puny and pathetic, but isn't a scientist who can make the right potion for her). If nothing else he can keep her spirits up here and now by not letting himself get sidetracked into gloomy talk!]

Great! Let's make sure you're in good shape for that!

[He doesn't even consciously realise how much he doubts himself when it comes to anything other than cutting down monsters (or, back home, people), but Saya's appreciation really does put him at ease.]
