[Reiner asks a very good question, but he won't get an in-depth answer from Hijikata. Honestly, in a way this, too, is him being petty. He knows for sure that if the sadists from back home were here, they'd bully him with low ratings too, citing anything from his lifeless eyes to his stubborn fringe as justification. He refuses to be like them!!

Sure, he would substract points for what he considers valid reasons - Ozymandias, for one, would get 1 point less for his obnoxiously arrogant smirk, whereas Levi, had he posted a photo, would lose points for his dead fish eyes and resting bitch face -, but Reiner (who currently completes Hijikata's bad relationship trifecta) actually doesn't piss him off with his appearance alone.]

Because there's nothing wrong with how you look.

[He types and deletes a half-dozen different additions along the lines of "Only with your behaviour / attitude / titan shit", but eventually leaves it at that. It's a struggle!!]

[ It takes a few minutes for Reiner to reply. He stares at Hijikata's response, turning it over in his mind. It isn't even a compliment, merely stating that there's nothing wrong with how Reiner looks. Implying that there's plenty wrong with the rest of him—which would be the -7 to personality. It doesn't seem fair, somehow. But Reiner can hardly complain; he's the one who sent a 3 and picked a fight. Maybe he can blame his ill temper on the cold.

In any case, Reiner eventually heaves a sigh and writes: ]

Fine. You get a 9 for appearance. You can thank your hair.

Before you start complaining, 10s are reserved for people I like.

[Somehow it's both odd and funny that Reiner seems to like Hijikata's hair so much when back home people frequently point out its frontal V-shapedness and he can't keep his fringe split for the life of him despite wanting to. It's almost a little charming.]

I'll take that.

[He won't ask what an 11 means, but he will wonder!! While he's still baffled to see Reiner and Eren openly flirting, he tentatively feels relieved rather than anything else. He's clearly missing some important puzzle pieces here, but if Eren feels a bit happier rather than worse, then that's a good thing in his book.]
