So, I'll ask you: how would you grade yourself, Deuce?

Houseward, I didn't know you looked at things like this.

And now that you've put me on the spot, that's kind of hard. I mean a lot of people say I'm an eight and I'd like to think I am at least. Maybe more like a 3 smarts wise though?

I didn't know you could give multiple scores.

For rule adherence, I think a 5 would be well deserved.

I guess it'd depend on what your personal criteria would be, you know? Someone might think I'm a ten but another might think I'm one..


So did you just average my score, or was there another reason?

It's because I have nothing to go on except for your word alone. And while your word isn't without merit, I must bear witness to you following the Queen of Heart's rules.

Also, what other qualities would you want me to address?

The rules. Of course. I suppose I wouldn't score very high there.

I guess I'd wonder what you think. like lookswise or something. Not that I care that much about that sort of thing.

That's hardly fair to ask of me. If I considered your appearance for anything, that would be foolhardy. Whether you are fair or foul, I don't think it would be appropriate. I can't afford to be biased in that way.

But if I were to hypothetically assign you one, based on factors?

Perhaps a seven.

But no, Riddle gave Deuce his honest opinion. It was time for Deuce to do the same.]

I mean you're really strong and brave and like even though you're kind of small, you have an aura? You know how in anime the really cool guys have this like battle aura, you have that!

And of course, you're really smart and good at school. And you work hard and don't let setbacks get you down. I know it doesn't mean much coming from someone like me, but that's amazing.

You're also really pretty I guess? Like you have a nice face and you stand out.

[A pause then because how honest should he continue to be?]

You can be really scary though and sometimes a little confusing.

So I guess I'll say you're an 8? 8 and a half?

deuce is so lucky that he covered up that slight with a bunch of compliments, because riddle could already feel his face heating up and the color on his cheeks begin to match the same color as his hair.

it takes him a moment to respond, mostly so he can get his blood pressure back to acceptable levels. ]

I guess you've said plenty of complimentary things. I appreciate your feedback. I suppose I could always stand to improve.

I mean you are pretty. Maybe that's a bit weird to say to another guy, but I'm not sure what other word to use.


[Maybe cute, because sometimes Riddle was a little cute. When he gushed over hedgehogs or seemed really happy about something. But it also felt weird to call him that.]

Handsome? Me? I mean I like to think so, but it always feels weird when people say it.

[Deuce occasionally preened in private, but actually bragging himself up is different.]

But you know, you don't need to let anything negative I said get to you. I'm just some guy at the end of the day.

You're not just some guy, Deuce. You're a first year of my dorm. You're my priority.

[ as is everyone else in heartslabyul, but... deuce is also special. he stands out. where some might shy away from certain things, riddle knows for a fact that deuce wouldn't. it makes him different--- not always in good ways, but there are certainly some good ones. ]

Fraternizing in the school environment is different than doing it here. So I suppose I could use other words to describe you, if that's what you wish.

Thank you. I know you're the Housewarden, but it still means a lot.

[And that's why Deuce obeyed him, though he knew Riddle wasn't like other House Wardens either. Sometimes he was very demanding and some of the rules he expected you to follow were a little absurd, but he never felt like he was entirely unfair either.

So Deuce could respect him. And after the overblot situation, they had a special bond in a sense. You naturally did after going through something like that together.]

I mean now that you said that, I'm curious but I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable.

[ damn. he's being put on the spot. while riddle normally wouldn't mind, this is a different kind of position he's in that he... isn't really familiar with. ]

In due time, when I feel ready to express myself like that? I will come clean.

[ not to the point of potentially overblotting again, which would probably be fatal... but. you know. ]

I can say with certainty none of those descriptions are unflattering.
