How do I get my friends to not be upset when I talk about life at home?
It's not like they can do anything about it or like bad things are happening here now, so I mostly just feel bad for making them feel bad and making the conversation really awkward.
Is this a normal part of having friends? It sucks and I would like to opt out, please.

[Hell is hell, in the end! Whether you get fanmail or not.]
I got enough of it in life, I refuse to wallow in it after my death. Even that much can usually get me some sympathetic looks, but really I could not care less about the transition from one form of life to another, you know? It's over now so why be sad over it?
But yeah, I guess I don't have advice so much as commiseration. Unless you take "just hold off on mentioning it until you have the patience for it" as advice.

I appreciate the commiseration. Good luck telling off the next person who treats you differently.

Best of luck to you as well, although I imagine less in telling people off and more in having the patience to accept it.
