[The video turns on and Erenville appears, his tall, black ears tipped a grayish-blue in full view. He will be offended if you call him a bunny or a rabbit. His bright golden eyes, which stand out against his dark, charcoal-gray skin, are tinged with annoyance as he sighs.]

I had hoped I would have been able to avoid this, but it appears that is not the case. It seems my Autumnal powers have graced me with wings. A raven's, to be exact.

[A large pair of black wings can now be seen behind him as he pulled the camera back and over his shoulder.]

I would appreciate some assistance in learning to get rid of them. They are very inconvenient.

[He nodded his head in a slight bow, then the feed cuts. Short and to the point.]

[The wings are weird, okay?? And they're throwing off his balance. Being able to fly is pretty neat, though. He will admit that.]

I know, but I had to give it! I've had dragon wings before, too. Couldn't use them at all, but at least they retracted into my back!

Aye, I can use them. Learning to fly took some time, but overall, they are just too cumbersome to keep on my back. If I could just learn to bring them into being at will and when needed, I would be more amenable to them! Alas, they are simply a burden at this time.

Nay, they were as big as me! They just weren't capable of anything but gliding down if at all. Couldn't propel myself anywhere with them. They helped while swimming, though!

I don't know how to get rid of yours, though. Maybe they'll go away on their own? How long have you had them?

I see. Could be because of your weight then. Most animals that fly have lighter bone structures or something within to help offset the weight like a sac of air within.

[Not that he knew how all dragons flew, in particular. But this was just based on his collecting and studying various specimen.]

A few days now. Sleeping has been troublesome.

I'm not that heavy... but you might be right. Would have been nice to be able to fly at all though.

[ Grumble. She shakes her head then- ]

You know, a place I was in would enforce transformations like this on people, and have them vanish after a while. I may have my notes on it- though I doubt they'd apply here, but maybe we can learn something about how to handle your transformation. How much can you use them, anyroad?

[He couldn't help but chuckle at her grumbling. But he wisely chose not to continue on that train of thought.]

How much can I use them? A fair bit, I suppose? I can certainly fly with them as they are large enough to keep me aloft. It is quite tiring at the moment, however. I am still mastering actually moving them independently though. Flying is somehow easier.

Unfortunately, I don't have any tips. It may just be a matter of being persistent. It's bound to eventually happen, and after you do it once it'll probably be much easier to do it again.

No, I suppose it isn't a common issue. Although I have seen a fair few fully transform? If I could figure out what the triggered them in the first place, perhaps I can trigger them into disappearing.

[Basically, gotta find the On switch before figuring out the Off switch. This might take some time.]

That's true. If it turns on, it should be able to turn off, too. Maybe someone at guilds can help you with it, they tend to be pretty knowledgeable about the magic.

They are exquisite, but I can see how they may impair your movement and cause discomfort if you are not accustomed to maneuvering with them. I was also not aware this world's magical blessings would include physical transformations.

Have you experienced any other ailments from their appearance, aside from the aforementioned discomfort?

Aye, that they do, lad. It varies between the Seasonal blessings that we are given, although I do not know how one finds out what they can transform into or how much. It appears to vary even that that from what I have seen on the network.

[A soft sigh. They really are a beautiful pair of wings, but they are not quite wanted either. It was hard to appreciate something when it was an inconvenience. He could certainly find uses for these, of course, and he likely will once he is able to figure out how to transform at will!]

No particular ailments aside from my shoulders and back feeling sore from the extra weight, but that is to be expected.

I suppose I will have to wait to be surprised when and if something manifests, though I cannot say I would be deeply disappointed if it never did.

[ It helps that he can already transform, but he wouldn't mind experiencing changing into something a little less lethal to his own body. ]

Have you at least tried to use them to fly? I imagine the experience would be quite breathtaking, especially soaring between the clouds so freely.

A bit, but as I am not a native flier, it is still a learning experience. Studying enough fauna has at least taught me how it works but as I am not necessarily built for flight, it is not the same as a normal raven.

[Despite how contrite he looks, Erenville had been excited at the prospect of learning flight, make no mistake! But it would be much easier, and less stressful, if he knew how to control the appearance of the wings so he did not fear a sudden fall as well.]

Some species of songbirds in my world have been known to push their young out before they have properly learned to use their wings to horrifying effect. [ Can relate, to be honest, but that is a story for another time. ] Worry not– you are under no similar duress, and mastering a fear of heights and a fear of falling is, indeed, a difficult matter.

As for how to retract them, I would recommend relaxing first. Not to be presumptuous, but I am sure the sudden appearance of raven wings has left you agitated, has it not?

That is not an uncommon trait of the birds of Eorzea as well. I would certainly not like to try that method myself, all things considered. [A brief chuckle and a shrug ] I do not fear heights, but I cannot say the same for falling even were I have a companion with me.

[He sighed heavily and nodded.]

You are not presumptuous. I am quite agitated, probably more than I ought to be.

Then allow the tension to leave your body first, and once you are calm, you will find your wings exercising obedience. Would that I had wiser words than that to offer, but in my experience, a strong will and a quiet heart yield mastery over many kinds of magicks.

While you learn to control their appearance, would you like any assistance in learning to properly take care of them?

I take it you are familiar with the care of wings? Preening is not something am unfamiliar with, as my vocation requires the study of such fauna. But I will never say no to further advice.

After all, I lack a proper beak to preen, so any advice on how to do this by hand is most welcome, indeed.

Mhm, I have some experience I'm sure I can pass on.

[Admittedly having a beak might be useful but she's sure she can work around it.]

You should be able to use your hands, or have someone else help you if there's somebody you trust. [Guizhong smiles.] They can be quite delicate, so that's important.
