Hey, I'm Jean Kirstein. We're here to announce that we're opening our business today. It's called Volcanus and it's both a forge and a gunsmith at the same time. I'm working as a blacksmith and make all sorts of weapons. I specialize in swords and other types of blades, but I can work with other sorts of weapons as well - I'm studying new techniques all the time.

[Jean non-verbally encourages Mukuro to tell a bit about her part of the business - maybe even take the camera and show her the workspace she has.]

Huh- right.

[A quick thank you to Jean and Mukuro took the camera, showing an area set up for detailed work. A neatly disassembled pistol is currently lying on the work bench.]

Mukuro Ikusaba. I'm the gunsmith here. If you have any firearms that need maintenance or repairs, my job is to get them back into good working condition. Happy to talk about custom jobs or weapon modifications as well.

...Mostly dealt with traditional weaponry, but magic weapons and how to optimise their magical reload capabilities is on my radar to investigate further.

[A pause, before she nudged the phone back Jean's way. Being allowed to express her interests publicly like this would take some getting used to.]

[Jean's proud of her for doing it regardless. He'll address the camera once more.]

[Hijikata didn't expect to feel this proud to see his sworn siblings announce their shared business. It doesn't feel like that much time passed since he got to know them both on Avalon, but haven't they grown a lot since then? Jean clearly really enjoys smithing, given that he already made several swords here on Ellipsa, and Mukuro, who always became more outgoing and excited when given an opportunity to talk about firearms and other weapons, should likewise find fulfillment in this joint venture.]

[He has three swords, after all, and even with all the enhancements they'll still need more than just basic maintenance at times! The same goes for the custom bazooka he imported a while ago and hasn't really used (but intends to). Part of him wonders why Jean and Mukuro didn't ask for his help with the set-up of their business, though. (It couldn't possibly be because he's been acting subdued and unlike himself and stayed away from home on some vague "assignment" - read: in Ozymandias' harem - all month...)]

[She didn't want to interrupt his mystery assignment in Solarpeak, it sounded very important- he seemed so serious about it, after all (she may have completely misread the situation when she got back from hiding at Makoto's...).

Either way, his support made her usual awkward smile light up her face.]

[It still felt a bit strange to be helping run a place like this...and part of her wondered what Darin would think.]

[If she were to ask Hijikata, he'd assure her that Darin would be proud of her too. Regardless of their conflict over her dragon-slaying venture, he was a proud smith, and seeing her working at a forge again would surely please him!]

Will I be getting a family discount?

I'm not sure how much work I'll have for you, but I think Jean's going to get a commission from me right away.

[Unless Shoto beats him to that... but even if, Hijikata will insist on paying after the boy sacrificed his sword to unpetrify him.]

That sounds great! And I've imported my custom bazooka already, I just haven't found an opportunity to use it yet... it's a pain in the ass to take along on quests; I always use the keychain one on those. But once it does need maintenance, I know where to go!

I think rather than bringing my swords in for maintenance I'll commission you for a new one first thing, though.

[He isn't sure if he and Jean will be able to more or less reconstruct Shoto's old sword completely without his input and make it a surprise - maybe Shoto already talked to Jean about this, anyway -, but at the very least Hijikata wants the bill to go to him in the end!]

[ Ooh swordsmith. Saya uses a private forge most of the time, but it would be nice to have a professional do some work before she enters her hibernation. So it's ready when she wakes. ]

What's your experience with unconventional blades? [ Her sword is unique and has intensely important emotional value, she wants to be sure to leave it only in hands that are confident they can work with the strange features and not against them. ]

Honestly, I haven't worked a lot with those yet, even if I've read on them. I've made one, as a final test for my blacksmith teacher, but that's about it.

It's not magical, if that matters. The form itself is unique.

[ She holds her sheathed katana in front of the camera and draws a few inches of it. There's an odd bend near the hilt as well as an embedded red gemstone, but the most unusual and complicated aspect is carved channels that run down the center of the blade, like it's meant to have liquid flowing through it. ]

Does this look like something workable? Obviously the edge is where most of the wear and tear happens, but the channels extend out into that so the end will be evenly coated. [ Coated in what? Probably don't ask. ] It has enormous sentimental value.

But I would like some professional maintenance on it, if possible. I've learned to do a fair bit on my own but there's no substitute for proper care.

[Jean studies the blade as much as he can through the screen. It does look very unique... and he does not ask what it's meant to be coated in. No sir.]

I think I should be able to work on it. Of course, if you want to be sure because of how important it is, you can stay around to see me work with it - and I wouldn't bill you for the first time, since it would be just to see if you approve.

I'd love to watch you work, more for my own edification than because I don't trust you. Blacksmiths have an inherent respect for blades, I've found. Particularly special ones.

I can't imagine why I wouldn't pay you, though. I appreciate the offer and all, but your time and skills are valuable, I'm happy to pay your normal rate. [ Not like she's gonna need the cash for much longer anyway. ]

So long as you can show me you know what you're doing with them, then I don't care how old you are. I was serving as a Mercenary at 14, so I know younger people are capable of handling a weapon.

[She didn't want to sell weapons to a kid who clearly had no idea what was doing- the sort who thought guns were a 'super cool' toy. That would just cause problems. But hey, a young teen who treated them with respect was all fine with her!]
