Let me ask you a question so I can get to know you all. Just out of curiosity, which do you prefer? Cats, dogs? Birds? Or even a hillicurl?

Please do enlighten me and give me a reason! I can't wait to hear your answers!

That's a really hard choice! I love animals of all kinds. But I guess if I had to pick one over the others, I really do like birds. Their chirping and warbling always sounds so happy and sometimes like a song, it's so cute! And of course, watching them fly always makes me feel lighter, too. Oh, and their colors are often really vibrant and pretty!

I haven't heard of a hillicurl, though. What's that?

I'm not surprised to hear that you like birds. They can bring joy to someone and especially how they sing their melody!

But a hillicurl is a creature that lurks in my world. Would like a creature that likes to scare people as a pet?

Right, right!? I could listen to them all day!

They like to scare people? In that case, they sound pretty playful! I'd like to meet one of them!

They can be rather difficult to take care of? Are you willing to take on such a task?

Sure am! Even difficult animals want someone to take care of them from time to time. And if other people tend to overlook them because they're more difficult, then it's all the more reason I'd like to make sure that they feel appreciated.

Ah, you are very brave! Not many people are willing to take care of dangerous animals.

It sounds like you are used to it.

Oh, not at all! The animals I've tended to have all been domesticated first. But I'm sure that just like with people, we can talk things out and come to understand one another just fine.

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to hear an answer like that. I'm surprised that you said that. Not many would agree.

Really? I've always loved animals since I was little, and so I've always tried my best to understand their needs as well. They're living creatures just like us, so even if we can't communicate the same, it only makes sense that we should treat them with the same amount of respect.

You'll be surprised. Sadly, there are some people in this world who would much rather kill a creature rather than finding the solution that you mentioned.

Although, most would stick to the easier alternative or what they are most familiar with.

I guess that's true... I feel like there's a fine line between what people are willing to call animals and monsters, too. I have a friend who is technically a monster, but if took one look at him, you wouldn't think he's any different from a cat.

[Except for maybe, like, the fire ears and tail and whatnot.]

He caused quite an uproar when he first appeared! But now he's attending classes with us just fine. I'm really glad everyone decided to give him a chance!

Oh? I'm afraid there is something I am missing. I wasn't aware that there were people who could turn into animals in your world! Please do tell me, is this very common?

Because in my world, all we have are visions! They are items granted to us by the gods that allow us to use elemental powers.

[And maybe the occasional stories of people fighting Gods but she'll keep that to herself.]

Oh, he's not a human at all! I think I heard them say that he's a direbeast... But he's capable of human speech, at least. So he can interact with the rest of us without any problems. Hmmm, but I think there are people who can use magic to transform into animals, at least for a little while.

Is the magic from your world similar to the magic here? I can cast some elemental spells as well, but the feeling is rather different from what I've been given in this place.

Direbeast? It seems that there is a lot more to this than I once thought. It seems like there is a history of these direbeast. Mind if I ask what else is there to it?

And yes, it is! Although, I'm not sure if there is anything quite like using eletrco here. Unless someone managed to find a way that I am not aware of!
