Hi, my name's Nanohana Kanazaki. I felt like I should introduce myself so that others know I exist should I somehow disappear off the grid. All I ask is that people don't pity me or offer to "fix" me. I don't need either.

Though, I am curious - are there others like me out there? With disabilities, that is. I'm curious, is all.

Hey there! [Gohan waves at the camera. It mostly shows his top half, but it’s clear he’s sitting on a building.] Good to meet you, Nanohana. My name’s Gohan. I don’t know anyone else here that does, but I’m sure there are!

You’re new here, I take it?

It’s nice to meet you, Gohan. Don’t worry about trying to find anyone - it’s just a curious question. I was wondering if there were any others here.

And, yes I am. Just arrived.

Oh no, I wasn’t going to. I haven’t been here that long, myself, so I’m sure someone else has a better answer than I do.

Well hey, welcome! It’s probably confusing being here, so if you have any questions the Welcome Center didn’t tell you already I’d be glad to help.

[Honestly even for someone as worldly as Gohan it was fairly confusing at first, so he knows how that feels.]

It is a little confusing, but I think I have a little handle on everything. I don’t want to be a burden, though, so all my questions will be brief if I have any.

That’s good - for some, it can be very unsettling or disorienting. You won’t be a burden, though. I and many others are happy to assist in figuring out the world if needed. Or even showing you around, if you’d like. But exploring it yourself is a fun thing to do, too, long as you’re aware where the dangerous areas are.

As long as you don’t mistake my disability for helplessness, I’ll take any help I can get. But, I doubt that’ll be a problem.

Not at all. We all need help from time to time, but that doesn’t make us helpless. And you seem more than capable of taking care of yourself.

That… ah… heh, thank you for saying that.

[She’s bashfully looking away at that, surprised by the honesty.]

I worry people think otherwise, so…

Even if they did, it doesn’t mean they’re right. If anyone thinks you’re less than capable, they aren’t seeing past the wheelchair to the person in it.

It’s a long story. I am not in the mood to tell it right now, but it’s reassuring to know that it’s not as bad as I feared.

Right, I understand. [He did get a little carried away there.

So changing the subject a little—]

Offer’s still open to show you around, though. If you have a particular hobby, there’s probably something like it here. And plenty of scenic places too.

Well…

You know what? I wouldn’t mind being shown around.

Alright, I’ll come to you. Where are you currently?

The apartments they’ve offered. Very little in accessibility.

Ah… I’d hoped they would have something. [He hasn’t seen all the apartments, but he knows the usual is basically nil with accessibility.]

Well, I’ll meet you out front. I’m nearby, so it won’t be but a minute.

[And he sets off as soon as the video feed is cut, hopping between the buildings to get to the apartments, before flying down to the entrance to greet her.]

[And it’ll take her a moment, but soon Gohan would be greeted by Nanohana, guiding her wheelchair out.]

Gohan, yes?

That’s me! Glad to meet you in person. [He gives a slightly awkward (but genuine) smile.]

There’s a lot of places we can go, so I want to see what you think before we start heading off. Is there anywhere in particular you’d like to look for? If not, then perhaps your favorite season?

There’s nowhere in particular I can think of, so let’s head somewhere with Spring in it. Even though I’m a Summer.

[He nods.] I think Blossomcrown will work, then. Also, hey, I'm a Summer too.

[He starts leading her towards the outskirts of the central city, with their destination set. He matches her pace, not getting ahead of her so he can chit-chat while they go.]

So, Nanohana, can I ask you what your world's like?

My world? Haa… that’s a good question. It’s quite peaceful. At times. A lot of it is dealing with monsters that suddenly show up…

Monsters, huh? The world is at peace, until something comes to threaten it, and then the villain's fought away and the world is at peace again for a while... something like that?

Pretty much. Sounds like something out of an anime, but it’s my life.

I know the feeling. It's how things tend to work in my world, too. World is at peace for some number of years, then some terrifying beast or overlord or genetic petri dish of the world's strongest warriors shows up wanting to blow up the world.

…that sounds way too crazy, but I believe it.

Easy enough to when you also deal with the same thing in your world, right?

[He laughs a little, as they start getting closer to Blossomcrown.]

Thankfully I was able to help the last couple times it happened.

So, you're a superhero?

Well, I don't know if you'd call me a superhero... I do fight to protect my world, though.

[So, yes, he is. His awkward expression tells all.]

Heh, it's okay, I won't pry any further. Your world is lucky to have people like you.

Sometimes I wonder if we're a trouble magnet for the world, though. The villains come to take over the world, knowing we're there...

Still, at least my world's at peace again. Hopefully it'll last another seven years.

No, I don't think it's you. There just might be things your world has that they want. And even if you leave, they'll still come.

[He eyes the screen for a moment.] Do people often offer to fix you? Or pity you?

Shadow... you're... an animal. Interesting. Never met one like it.

And, yes, they do. I don't want either. You want to fix me? Fix the others in my state first.

[He nods once.]

Interesting is an apt word for it all. There are many things here that can be called interesting. For better and for worse.

Bad experiences, I take it?

Not all bad. Strange things happen here. Unpleasant strange things. I do enjoy other aspects of being here.

Other aspects? I'm curious.

Employment is easy enough to obtain. The people here are often kind and understanding. I've learned a lot being here.

The new powers are also a positive. To name a few.

Are in danger, Miss? As for your question, I am sure there are many who are disabled. It can be a difficult topic to discuss.

Understandable. From what I have seen, everyone has something that either limits them or holds them back.
