[ When the feed opens, note that there are an array of mushrooms spread out upon a table. There is a complete intact version right next to one that has been completely dissected. Tighnari is also visible behind them, ears moving this way and that. ]

I apologize for interrupting your perusal of endless questions and general socializing [ He's not right now because science ] but it would be irresponsible not to share what I've been working on since arriving here.

[ Which takes him back to the mushrooms! ]

My field of study is botany so I took it upon myself to start gathering samples from the flora out in the Sections. I picked these from the Mushroom Sanctuary. Some are harmless enough, but others are not. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of "I ate one now what" scenarios from occurring.

Over here, we have a glowing variety that are relatively fine. Eating any of the glowing varieties will result in a glowing effect your yourself. The effects won't last too long, thankfully.

This batch seem to have restortative properties. However, I am still working out what each one does. I will continue studying these.

Next, take care when consuming these varieties. They have a hallugenetic effect. Please do not be irresponsible with this information. Note that I didn't state what sort of hallucinations one will experience and for good reason. There are a few others.

This one caused me to float while it's it's friend made me entirely unable to pick my body up off of the floor.

I say this, but there are plenty of species that I've found are edible and others that were poisonous. If at any point you are unsure, I would be happy to relay that information.

I have more than need to be documented and ideas for potions and salves aside, but this should be sufficient for the time being. Again, I stress caution and care when dealing with unknown flora and fauna.

Is this about you and Alhaitham?

[ Someone might have messaged him about that. Either way, Tighnari is waving Kaveh on inside.

H- How?! [ no! stop!! he'll really know if you overreact. dial it back and ABORT. ]

[ he chuckles to cover his outburst. ] ... [ and then realizes that he can't lie to tighnari. ] Maybe. How did you know? Who told you? Did he already talk to you?! What did he say about me?

He was curious and messaged me earlier, that's all.

[ Now hold on here. Tighnari is going to grab at Kaveh's wrist and forcibly drag him inside. Stop being stubborn. ]

Mostly he wanted to know how Cyno and I reacted.

[ oh shit. ]

O- Oh, that makes sense. [ INTERNAL SCREAMING. ] We went a few days without contact only to realize that's the reason we both started to feel poorly. I had overheard that touch is a kind of power, or uh, grounding mechanism, so... I'm sure you and Cyno experienced something similar.

We conducted a far more controlled experiment. I went without for several days while Cyno at least maintained himself. This way we were able to observe the results in a stable, safe environment.

[ Meaning they actually thought this through Kaveh! ]

My own reactions were not quite so extreme.

[ don't lecture him! ] But we weren't even conducting an experiment. Alhaitham and I were both just busy getting acclimated. Not only that, but we also found ourselves jobs, so adjusting to a new routine has also taken some time. [ for him, at least, since he didn't hold down a typical job back in sumeru. ]

It must have been because we were both touch starved. [ yes, that's it, that's got to be the reason! ] I'm sure if one of us had remembered to keep up, then we would have been fine... just like the both of you.

I understand that time can get away from even the best of us, Kaveh. There is quite a bit to get used to. Even so, we should still be diligent about our own welfare and wellbeing.

[ It's half lecture and half understanding. Because it is easy for things to have been forgotten. Or pushed off to the side or simply... Not considered a priority. ]

My best guess, at the current moment, is something like that, yes. The extreme reaction is due to the deprivation. Was the contact brief or prolonged?

[ but he had trouble with both of those things back home. ~~he's doomed~~. kaveh sighs, his shoulders sagging inward as he nods his head in understanding. ] I, I know. It's been a hectic couple of days. I didn't think it would get this bad. [ he thought he could deal with it because, c'mon, alhaitham? really?? they might live together, but they generally avoid each other, because all they do is clash. ]

[ he seems pleased that tighnari has also come to this conclusion.there aren't any other factors, nope! ] ... [ kaveh hadn't been expecting him to follow up with another question. ] Brief, a- at first.

[ Tighnari is going to shoo him over to the table to sit down. Then he's going to start to move all the mushrooms so that they have a place to actually talk and the like.

Probably starts to make some tea. ]

Kaveh. I'm not going to tease or judge you. Relax and just let me know what happened from your perspective.

[ as he's shooed over to the table he drops into a seat and rests an arm on the table, so he can slouch semi-comfortably. tighnari's right. he can trust him. kaveh blows out a sigh and randomly starts drawing shapes on the table as a means of distracting him from the feelings that may or may not be attached to what he's got to say. ] It all happened so fast... and it felt good. [ his looks over at him. ] But that's because it helped, right, all that relief..?

I was telling Alhaitham that it would make sense for it to cause a rush, of sorts. In order to gain some sort of compliance or at least deter avoidance of touch, then logically making it feel good is sound.

[ No, he is not touching the degree of "feel good" there for Kaveh. Tighnari had experienced something similar enough. ]

Imagine someone out in the harsh sands of Sumeru. They've spent days without any water and they stumble across an oasis. How many people would think about something like moderation?

[ his face colors. ] ...what did Alhaitham say happened? [ please, archons, tell him that he didn't go into too much detail. ]

[ kaveh nods along with the explanation, half listening, because he's currently feeling like he's about to expire. ] Makes sense. We'll just have to avoid going for days on end without touch. I'm sure now that we know it's necessary we'll actively try to avoid the consequences by coming up with a system.

Oh no. We're not doing the "he said" thing. I asked what your experience was because all of that nonsense happened to you. Your perspective on it matters.

[ Tighnari is going to remain relatively firm on that. He would rather hear it from this man anyway. ]

And I told you. [ mostly. ] I’m just curious about he phrased it. [ how desperate did he make me out, tighnari!!! ]

I was overwhelmed and clearly not thinking straight, but everything’s fine now.

[ Tighnari is over here giving the other a flat look, if only because he is flustered. He suspects that Kaveh is worried about what is said, more than anything else. ]

So then why do you need a remedy if "everything's fine now," Kaveh?

[ kaveh is 85% concerned about what had been said,
and 15% worried it's going to happen again, because ???. ]

[ his mouth drops open, because, dammit, he messed that up. ] I want to try to prevent it from happening in the future and I thought one of your remedies could help with that. [ maybe he's like an allergy. ]

You... Want to prevent an extreme reaction. With a natural remedy.

[ He sighs. Rubs at his ears a little in frustration. ]

Kaveh. Is this really a problem? It seems to me like it could be resolved by simply coming up with a routine. If it never is allowed to become an issue to this degree, then there is little to worry over.

[ is this a problem, tighnari, because it seems reasonable ~~to somebody that knows both jack & shit about medicine~~. ]

[ kaveh hadn't intended on spilling all of the beans, but it seems like he's going to have to. ] ...alright, so it's not just happening because of the lapse in time between touches. It's any touch. It's not as severe, but it's still... [ he holds a hand out to tighnari. ] different than if, for example, we held hands.

All right...

[ Tighnari holds Kaveh's hand. Waits for the reaction that the other is going to have... ]

[ kaveh takes and squeezes tighnari's hand and... nothing crazy. the relief their shared contact brings feels nice, so he smiles, but he's not losing his mind, which tells him a few things he'd rather not thing about right now. damn alhaitham. ]

So no reaction, correct?

[ Tighnari hums. There's a thought percolating in his mind. ]

Is this how it is every time with Alhaitham? Even without the whole "it's been too long" deal?

Not ‘no reaction’. I feel something, and it’s nice, but it’s not… overstimulating?
