Uh. Okay. Questions! Are most of you used to pets? Domestic beasts are mostly for food where I came from, so it's been... A thing. Getting used to them as companions. But my girlfriend has cats, and that's been kind of nice, so...
I guess I'm trying to learn more? To see if maybe I want one. So— tell me about yours if you have any? ...And if anyone wants to give advice or suggestions, I'm sure as fuck not going to say no to that, either.

@music2myears
This is Koromaru. He's an albino shiba inu and is very smart.
What kind of advice are you looking for?

Uh— I guess anything you think someone who hasn't had pets should know? Or what kinds would get along with cats.

It really depends on the kind of pet you want since dogs and cats and stuff are different and have different needs. If it's just cats, I don't have a lot of experience taking care of them. I know they use a litter box and it needs to be changed every few days. They're pretty low maintenance, keeping them indoors is best but there's plenty of people who let their cats roam so I guess it's up to your girlfriend.
Uhm...oh, they're carnivores through and through so giving them food that isn't meat isn't all that great for them compared to dogs where they can handle a bit more of the non-meat foods. Milk is actually not good for them either.

[ listening, though... ]
Yeah, I knew the cats are— what's the word. Obligate? Carnivores. Not like canines. ...I'm not sure what I want yet, though? If I want anything. I like that the cats are kind of independent, but... uh. Something you can train might be better?

Haunted... you've got a tsukumogami as a pet?

Hi?
...I guess I'm surprised something like that wouldn't cause too much trouble... "Pokemon" is... what, like a group name?

[A Sobble cautiously climbs the side of Rinku's chair. She takes him into her arms and he looks nervously at the camera.]
And, uh... I guess the best advice is to prepare and research for the specific kind of animal you like if you want one! They're all different, after all.

Hey?
...It looks like I'm probably going with a Pokemon, since they're smart? But I'm starting to think that won't narrow it down much.

Yeah, the machine I got him from gives them at random. I wasn't even sure what it was selling. But it all worked out because Clavell-sensei and Turo-sensei were there with a bunch of advice. I guess Mecchan's species is a little more difficult since they tend to be nervous and cry a lot like he does, and when he cries, so does everyone around him. But Mecchan is my friend, so I'm really glad I got him in the end.

...If he's anxious, it's good he's got someone understanding.

[Plus a very large cat trying very hard to claw at some weird kid sitting on top of the fridge.]
There are more, but Krookodile and Sableye don't sit too well for pictures.
As far as advice goes, it really depends on what you want to know about.

Do you think there's any way I'd be able to see them in person??
no subject
Uh, sure. Most of them are friendly enough.
No Pokemon where you're from either, huh?
no subject
Nope! This is the first time i've ever heard of anything like that, actually!
switching to text, same un
more? wow, you have a lot
do they all get along?
and I guess I'm looking for things people wished they knew before they got pets?
or suggestions for what kind might be good to a newbie
no subject
I can only speak for what it's like having Pokemon, since we don't have any of these other weird creatures around here where I'm from. But there's a good amount that make good pets. Meowths - the little silver cats - are easy to take care of because they tend to be lazy. Make sure they have food and water and some coins to play with and you're good.
Granted, most of your money is gonna go into the food.
A lot of your money, actually.
[Or is that only because he spoils the shit out of them allβ]

which thankfully for the sake of her dignity doesn't get recorded, but she does take a few moments of staring accusatorily at it before setting up a reply. ]
Honestly? I'm starting to think more-partner-than-pet is the way I should go anyway. Since we've got like three cats already, and I'm new to the idea anyway.

I've never had a pet. [Palisman =/= pet] But in my honest and unbiased opinion, birds are superior.
