I don't know if anyone's asked this before, but I'm curious. What are the gods like where you're from? Or other supernatural stuff? How normal are they?

I come from a place where it isn't weird to meet a small god at least once, and no one says things like ghosts and demons and spirits aren't real because they very observably are. But I've heard that's not necessarily true in other worlds, and there are plenty of people who'd count as supernatural here too.

You can also just share your favourite legends or myths from back home. Those are always neat to hear.

Folk talk about gods where I'm from, but you don't really see them after they ascend. But we've got plenty of the rest! Ghosts, demons, monsters, beasts, etc. They're pretty common!

What do you mean by gods ascending?

When they ascend from just being immortals to becoming gods. Though I guess some just start that way or skip some steps because of reasons.

I've heard some stories of mortals that end up gods somehow, but not many. [ Though like, now that he thinks about it, where do gods come from? They just exist due to prayer or belief, he guesses??? ]

Yep, it's pretty much like that. Some of the previous generation of my sect ascended.

I guess? I'm a cultivator. Martial arts are part of that training.

Paperwork, half the time.

A painful amount of paperwork.

What would they even need the paperwork for? [ Genuine question, everything he's heard about sects and the like is all second or thirdhand accounts. ]

Bro, there are at least a thousand people in my sect. It's like a city all on its own. You don't supply that many people on meditation and wishes. [Very much knows first hand because guess who does most of that paperwork?]

Huh. I guess I didn't think sects could get that big.

Oh yeah. Cang Qiong is a mountain sect with twelve peaks, each with our own specialty. So that's a lot of people.

Specialties like what?

Forging, martial arts, asceticism, the scholarly arts... Logistics, in my peak's case.

Reminds me a little of the merchant clans back home... Though they're businesses, first and foremost.
