He's not about to keel over or anything, but he definitely looks worse for wear, and he doesn't want her to fret more than she already is. He's already caused her enough distress, having been gone as long as he has been, so he doesn't want to add onto that. Not if he can help it.
He's so glad to hear her voice, though. He's missed his family dearly, and though he misses their WHOLE family, he's glad it was Meilin that showed up over anyone else. Mari would be a mess, Sen and the quints are...Sen and the quints. And he's not sure he could look either of their parents in the eyes (assuming Zhi would be awake if he were brought here).
Meilin, out of anyone, would handle this situation best. More than that, though...out of all of them, she was the most likely to have buried how much his absence hurt her, which may have led to less support from the people around her. So if he can help soothe some of the pain he caused, even if she never admits to how much of it there is, then he wants to. ]
