{ it’s later in the day after the guilds have opened, giving him enough time to firstly speak to the power holders, but then assemble his notes into what could be considered concise enough to share with the public. olwen had clearly had worries of overwhelming people on arrival, but without information in place it’s impossible to actually assess the situation and make their own choices on what to do. }
Greetings. { and at first glance, it seems as though the man who appears partially in the camera doesn’t know how to use it. only part of his face shows, along with the tell tale sign of someone holding onto papers in their hand. his voice, at least, will be recognisable for anyone who has met him before. } I have information to share regarding our situation, since I imagine many of you are rather busy, I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. For any of you who may have doubts about my sourcing of this, all the information I will present here is free for anyone to search for themselves in the library or by asking the power holders themselves.
According to the history books Amberfall library has on this world, no one can remember the world being anything but the seasonal segments and the neutral ground in the centre, though they have obviously adapted and grown over time. As for the seasonal powers, they appear to be blessed to humans who entered a particular segment, though not everyone was blessed with these powers. Magic differs from these powers, and people here can learn that with practice.
Now, the topic of interest is the ‘Tragedy of Greed’. This describes a group of people who were overly eager for more and wished to have the powers of all the seasons. They would absorb powers from others, essentially murdering them, until one day one of them was able to possess all four. It’s quite extraordinary how grotesque this next section is, so I’ll save the commentary, though a warning of how their powers went berserk and caused destruction will hopefully be enough to deter those of you who may have been considering this. I should note, this happened to all of those in that group who managed to steal powers from others. For those who hear this message and fear the worst, I can confirm that Olwen ensured that there was magic involved with our summoning that will stop any of us from doing the same.
{ he takes a pause, and a sharp smile is visible on the camera - still partially obscured but it’s there } We wouldn’t want anything bad to happen, now would we?
Next, the Darkness that inhabits this world now has been sealed to stop it from spreading, but obviously that is not enough to restore balance. Anyone who has been curious enough to step further afield has likely seen for themselves the state of the segments, which is why we have been brought here to help.
As you may have noticed, many of the locals are apprehensive of us being here and fear the worst. For the time being, it may be best for those willing to help them feel more comfortable, aid them however you can. Time is likely the only means we have for their unease to fade.
Unfortunately, as they have said, the summoning itself is entirely random and there is recognition that there are many of you { not ‘us’ } will never have experienced danger like this before. I’d like to recommend that a support group be created for those that are worried about what they can do to help or how their safety can be ensured going forward. Experience in battle should not be the only skills that are honed, after all.
Meanwhile, I’d like to suggest that those of us who are able to explore the segments do so in groups to ensure safety. From what Olwen could tell me, there are still a lot of unknowns there and concerns of how we can proceed until more resources can be built. Please do not listen to Sawyer if he encourages you to go alone to show your bravery, if anything that would only show your foolishness.
Ah, goodness me, this was awfully long. There are more details I uncovered about the Fairies, Sirens and Mermaids of this world, but as they seem less important at the moment. Feel free to contact me if you wish to learn more. Of course, you can read all about this yourself at the library if you would prefer.

TL;DR: anyone who wants to try and steal powers from others won't be able to. let's help those that are worried/scared as they aren't used to this danger i'm so sorry this is so long skdjgdg }

[Ayato thanks, you're the best. This is really all he wanted anyway.]
no subject
Where?
{ honestly he's frustrated by being unable to do much more than this announcement as well, so maybe it will be good to let off some steam }
no subject
Yoimiya mentioned to me that it's a lot like Inazuma too, including various hot springs that could be enjoyed for tired muscles. Seems like it could kill two birds with one stone if we go there.
no subject
Outside Sunwaning it is. I'll see you there shortly.
{ he isn't commenting on the rest though, mostly because he wants to see what meets him on the other end of this before agreeing to anything more. }
no subject
Waiting for this opportunity is worth it to him. Even if all they're doing is having a little fun and working off some calories, he'll enjoy himself nonetheless.
Once he spots the Commissioner, Tartaglia gives a friendly wave of his hand as he walks up to approach him, happy to see that his opponent showed up. Not that he had much doubt.]
It's a pleasure meeting you face to face, Commissioner. Now, have you prepared yourself? We may be going a bit easier on each other, but don't think I'm going to go too easy. I want to see your skills.
no subject
still, as he makes his way towards where he can see childe waiting he's on guard, even if he offers a smile in return. }
Of course, I wouldn't dream of taking it easy given my opponent. I see you found somewhere quiet.
no subject
So, shall we begin?
[No need for small talk now- he's far more interested in starting their spar. His blood is pumping even though he's hiding it beneath that unreadable expression of his, ready to have a good time.]
no subject
{ he laughs under his breath }
But for now, let's see what happens, shall we?
{ while they may have started by partially assessing one another, sussing out movements and trying to predict attack patterns, ayato is actually a little glad to be able to let out his frustration on someone he doesn't particularly mind if he pushes too far with. it's actually a relief, to fight someone who he doesn't have to be overly careful with. he'd spar with ayaka or thoma for fun, but it isn't quite the same as letting loose consequences be damned.
the smile slips away, replaced by his own unreadable expression as he hand moves to his side, drawing his sword. it's likely a surprise how fast he starts, and while he may be guarded to any counters that come his way he actually does not hold back at all. it's intense from the get go, from the moment his sword is drawn to him dashing forward so quickly childe may feel as though if he blinks he'll miss the movement.
granted, it isn't all one way. ayato is surprised momentarily at the shift from bow to dagger as well, stepping back and out of the way as the change comes to reassess his next movements, next opportunity for attack.
if anyone were to stumble upon this they'd likely be bewildered as neither man seems to let their guard drop, water splashing all over the ground, in the air, it almost sounds like waves crashing as they both use hydro to try and best the other. }
no subject
But that's neither here nor there now. The Eleventh gleefully draws his bow at first, to have a little fun, to measure up Ayato and his fighting style. And the man does not disappoint him, as their fighting goes from testing the waters to a full out spar. He can tell there's a bit of frustration in Ayato's attacks, something he'd normally capitalize on if this were more than just what he called it- a friendly spar. But instead, Childe chooses to let those attacks sail towards him as he parries and counters with his own, letting him get all the stress out as needed. He wonders what it could be, if it were because he's Fatui or something else.
Throughout the spar, Tartaglia taunts and praises Ayato as he sees fit, laughter ringing out to signify how much fun he's having fighting him. He couldn't be more glad that the head of the Kamisato clan really wasn't holding back, a bloodthirsty joy worn on his features as they tangle with each other until finally, the two of them stand exhausted from their efforts.
The Harbinger lowers his weapons, as he feels is necessary to call this spar to an end since he's the one from an organization that isn't to be trusted, letting them disappear from his hands as he looks over to his opponent.]
Hahaha, shall we call it here? Goodness, it's been a while since I've been able to cut loose like that. We really should do this more often.
no subject
it's almost funny in a way how they differ when it comes to the fight itself though. while childe taunts and laughs to show his joy, ayato is much more reserved. he simply offers sharp smiles and an air of calmness over that frustration as attack after attack comes towards the other.
when childe dismisses his weapons, making a show of it to ensure he knows it's over, ayato sighs out softly. his own movements are habit as he reaches to his side, making a motion of sheathing his sword before it too disappears. }
I wouldn't have any complaints with it.
{ his family may do, but what they don't know won't kill them. }
I assume you're gathering a list of contacts for this?
{ considering how happy the other man seemed when getting to let loose he can only imagine this is a sort of hobby for the other. ayato does it to keep his skills sharp, not necessarily for the same thrill the other showed. }
no subject
[Childe taps his chin a few times, he supposes he could just make a little list in his smartphone of all the people who would spar with him. He's just not used to that kind of tech on his person all the time, but now that Ayato's said it, he might as well make use of it.]
I have a pretty good memory, so it's an easy task to simply remember who's willing to spar with me and who's not worth the time. Though, I'm pleased to know that you're willing to do so- not many have an opportunity to cross blades with a Harbinger, and fewer still who are willing to do so again who managed to survive.
[He sends Ayato a knowing look now- he's been meaning to ask him something since their fight started.]
I imagine you agreed to this not only because of your confidence in your own skills, but because of something else. Don't get me wrong, I had the time of my life, but I could tell something had gotten under your skin. You seem more relaxed now- I'm guessing you worked it out?
no subject
It would be rather problematic if I let myself get rusty while I'm here. { it would be incredibly problematic actually. }
But oh? Is that how it seems? How amusing, I'm actually a lot more relaxed here than I've ever had the chance to be back home.
{ and sadly no, putting his frustration into the fight didn't make it go away, but he knows to not let it bleed into when he's speaking to someone. a spar is good enough reason to show he won't back down from a challenge and a hint of frustration doesn't seem like a bad thing to let bleed into it. }
no subject
he'll take that guy out for you, Ayato, just ask]I guess you too, aren't plagued with the duties of your position here. It's nice, isn't it? We may not necessarily be on a vacation, but it's taken a lot of pressure off of my back, anyway.
[The other Harbingers can cover for him while he's gone anyway. Boo hoo, they'll have to actually take on all those missions that they were always unwilling to do and forced him to take.]
no subject
You don't think we have a different sort of pressure here? { he asks it with curiosity actually, because in a way the more unknowns here make things more stressful for him. not that he's letting on that's the case, the simple smile on his face keeps any of the concern out of his body language completely. }
no subject
Hah, calling it different is fair assessment. But even now it still doesn't hold the same weight as the responsibilities of a Harbinger, or a Commissioner, wouldn't you say?
[He smiles thinking about it, to come up with a better comparison.]
It feels more like we're just recruits, only tasked with learning how to use our new abilities and finding a way to live in this new world. I don't know about you, but I think I can handle that.
no subject
it's not actually that different here only that he has to start from the bottom all over again.
but he does follow him as he heads back towards the city -- or at least assumes that's the case. it's better than further away }
I've already said I spoke with the seasonal power holders here, so I don't think it will last that long. They won't be able to wait for everyone to get used to their new abilities to push on.
no subject
[He says that like that isn't stressful at all, as he continues to walk on with a sort of ease that contradicts everything he just said.]
The difference is that neither you or I are responsible for a large swath of people or whether all the pieces being played on the chessboard will be assured success while we do it. Well, not in any official capacity, that is.
[He shoots him a fox-like, unreadable smile, not revealing at all what Childe's exact thoughts are on the matter.]
The only person we answer to on that front while we are here is ourselves, after all. How you choose to move forward is your own- I'm going to worry about what I know I can control. We just need to play our parts, for now at least. I expect the seasonal power holders to take responsibility for the rest, since they were the ones who summoned us here.
[But whether or not even they can be trusted...Childe isn't sure, but that doesn't matter to him right now. As long as he gets his fights.]
no subject
and childe is completely spot on with that smile too--he wants to help.
his expression doesn't shift, but his eyes do drift up to the sky. }
Someone who aspires to be a leader doesn't merely do as they're told. But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised a Harbinger is more used to following orders from a higher authority.
{ the way he speaks is clearly judgemental, too. but, it's why he's a little relieved that olwen, at least, had been open to collaborating. }
no subject
Come now, it's not as if you can cross Her Excellency, the Raiden Shogun, can you? Even I know perfectly well that making yourself an enemy of Eternity will earn you the opportunity to face off against lightning itself, as it would be considered treason otherwise. It's no different for us, as the Tsaritsa's will is as solid as the permafrost. My responsibility is simply to see it done.
[It's clear how much respect he has for the Tsaritsa, unafraid to show it.]
Besides. There's nothing wrong with lying low and waiting for the opportune moment to take advantage of a situation. I'm sure you understand what I mean.
[He doubts Ayato has never, ever done that before.]
no subject
Can I not? How curious, you're intelligence may be a little outdated if that's what you think. A lot changed since the Traveler came to Inazuma.
{ they have a lot to be thankful to her for, really. he's willing to admit that. and childe doesn't really need to know he helped the resistance sneak through which was essentially going against raiden's orders.
besides, the vision hunt decree was hardly something he'd agreed with either.
he doesn't blindly follow his archon like childe may think. }
But while I may understand what you mean, { and of course he does, setting up traps for people who are insistent on trying to power grab when they're absolutely unworthy of a higher status is something he's had to do countless times } being inactive is hardly a good use of time either.
no subject
Don't get me wrong, playing one's role doesn't mean complete inactivity. That's why I said we should play our role...for now.
[He winks at Ayato- this is all a part of getting to know their situation, gathering what information they can, at least to him.]
There's much we still don't know about this entire situation. I'm not trying to cast a shadow over the power holders here, but we only know what we've been told and what's in that library, right? I think you too, know well enough to hold a healthy skepticism, in case not everything is as it seems. Hah, but really, I'm just looking forward to seeing how everything plays out, hahaha.
[Though the truth of the matter is, as long as he gets to fight, he'll be happy.]
Ultimately though, my point is that you shouldn't stress too much over things, not yet at least. You'll only give yourself grey hairs faster, ha.
no subject
{ speaking to olwen had almost confirmed it, after mentioning the frozen falls he'd said that was all he could say for now. that, to him, indicated there was more work to be done to see if he could loosen his tongue more later down the line.
as much as ayato can wait, it's usually only after he's found enough to set a trap. right now, they don't have enough knowledge to go on to do that much. until then, he'll keep trying to gather as much information as he can }
As you said yourself, this is much less stressful than back home. Thank you for your concern, { not that he thinks it's really concern } however, I assure you I'm not going further than I can handle.
no subject
Good! Now then, why don't we focus on something else while we're here? I've worked up quite the appetite, so I'm hoping you can recommend to me something delectable to try. It's all on me, of course.
[He'll definitely buy the guy who just gave him a great fight some dinner.]
I figured since Sunwaning is so similar to Inazuma, you would have a good repertoire of dishes from your homeland to suggest. There were so many things I missed out on during my visit to your country, but perhaps this may serve as a good substitute for the time being.
[He sounds like he really enjoyed himself in Inazuma too.]
no subject
Oh? { how kind of him. of course there are many dishes that are enjoyed by many. miso soup has such a indistinct flavour it's hard to dislike it. sakura mochi was tasty and sweet. sashimi platter was refreshing and left you feeling full. tempura was crisp with a soft inside, tasty to eat. }
I wonder if they have adequate substitutes for them here? I've had some, of course, but admittedly I haven't eaten out very much.
{ why would he when ayaka and thoma cook for him dksdjng }
If we can find a place with a wide range of options I'm sure we'll find something you can enjoy.
{ you ready to try basashi, childe? funazushi could be another choice... Or maybe fugu?
none of these options he's thinking of are particularly normal. }
no subject
[And he sounds like he means that, wholeheartedly. Half the fun is eating new food and enjoying all the things that make life beautiful to begin with- that's why he's not too picky about it.]
So long as it's good, then I don't care what it is I try. You really can't come to truly appreciate where you've been unless you sample everything it has to offer- including things that look unusual or may not normally be to your tastes.
[Though his eyes may be dulled by his life experiences, there's still an excited glint to them as he speaks. This is part of why he likes to travel after all, and why wouldn't he be excited?]
I'm willing to give whatever you think is good a shot.
(no subject)
lol would you like for ayato to make childe eat weird, strange food or wrap this thread?
wraps this up properly sdkjngd
