If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry.

This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

Two is the lie, yes. I eat anything and everything.

I'm very, very old. And I've traveled a lot. Back before trains and cars and airplanes getting around the world took a long time so going through a country took weeks or months, you pick things up.

Ah! I got it right! I can't handle that much spicy food but I'm trying to get better at that.

But that's amazing that you've been able to pick up so many languages... You must have so many stories from being around even then?

I'm not sure if it's one of those practices makes perfect things, but there's enough types of food that you shouldn't have to try what you don't like.

I probably do have a lot of stories, yes. But not all of my memories are intact, so I only now a few of them. One of the downsides of being what I am is amnesia.

Amnesia... I'm sorry.

If you don't mind me asking, did you come to this world knowing you were from so far back or have you somehow lived this long?

[Sorry, he's a bit respectfully confused!]

I don't mind you asking.

I came to this world not that long ago, same as everyone else. I only know anything about my past because the last place I was -- which wasn't my home world either, it was a place sort of like this -- gave most everyone amnesia and let us buy memories. I've seen and experienced memories from long ago, though not very many of them, so that's why I don't know my age.

So it is true that people can be from multiple different worlds, getting pulled from one to the next. Strange worlds like this one.

[Sorry, he's taking that in.]

Buying memories... I hope this world doesn't do something like that to us.

I think if they were going to do something like that, they'd have done it when we arrived. That's how it worked before.

The previous place I was demanded we dance to their tune, this place is asking for our help. Big difference in how you're treated.

What do you mean you were demanded to dance to their tune...?

But, you're right. For the most part, it hasn't been that bad here. But I still can't help but be a little worried?

Just what I said. They kidnapped us, stole our memories, and told us if we wanted any of them back or to ever go home or not to get tortured we had to play games were we hurt and killed the others of us. Of course most often they tortured us either way.

I don't trust this place entirely, but so far it's paradise by comparison.

[fullgauntlet]

[UHHHH- That's so much worse than what he was picturing in his head........ Why couldn't it have been literally dancing? With a side of memory loss?]

What??? That's unbelievable? Was there no one to try and stop them? Were you stuck? Are you alright?

The took away our abilities and powers and turned us all mortal, so the strongest of us couldn't do anything. Some people where there for over a year, I was only there Five months or so.

I'm fine, but I worry about the ones we left there. I can't figure out how to get back to get them.

[fullgauntlet]

I see... That's terrible. I'm so sorry.

[The hero inside of him sure is upset to hear this.]

I want to learn more about this world and about other worlds in particular. If there's anything that I find out I'll try to pass it on. If there's any way we can help the people you left behind there...

[He knows that might be a fruitless effort but he can't help but want to try.]

That's really kind of you. Thanks. I know everyone from that place will appreciate it, whether they're here now or not.

I want to learn about this world too, for a lot of reasons. I hope it's as good as it seems.

I do too. I think... If this place gives you some time to at least breathe then it will be worth it.

It has. We'll all be recovered in no time. [ Nnnnot likely but she sees no need to worry anyone. ]
