If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry.

This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

Who can say what goes on in that simian's brain. He never has a plan, even in the most dire of circumstances.

Of course I do. My father needed an army when we freed him, and its so hard to keep demons on your payroll when you're focused on a small goal before attempting a large one. Robots was an excellent middle ground.

Which...if he was imprisoned by Son Wukong, that could go either way actually.

My father was a mover and shaker, of course. He was going to change the world, unite it under one banner and less subject to the whims of irresponsible Celestials and mortals!

[AKA, take over the world.]

Better it be in the hands of irresponsible demons, huh?

Excuse YOU, have you ever had to get a driver's license or a food stand permit as a known, but extremely small minority?

Do you know how much of a bureaucratic nightmare it is? There was so much gatekeeping, they're lucky I didn't burn down the municipal offices!

I, however, have kept up the supply chains for a small army completely on my own for decades with no issue. Clearly someone is better at streamlining paperwork than the other.

You’d think an immortal would be more patient about things.

Fortunately, we don’t mess about with that kind of mess in my village.

I am perfectly patient when the time taken is time used. Not when its a waste just because mortals didn't think 'maybe one day these immortal beings WHO WE KNOW EXIST might want one of these pieces of paper that lets people exist in the system.'

But no! No, I have to track down a historian and play twenty questions to prove that yes, I am this person from legend, now give me a driver's license so I can enter a stupid race before I decide theft really is the better option! I was driving when they invented cars, but no, I have to have a piece of plastic to prove I can drive!

Did they just give out social security numbers when they came up with the concept?

I gotta admit, I don't know what half of that stuff means, but I think I've got an inkling of why so many youkai are fleeing the modern world back home.

I cannot claim to not understand why some demons do not bother engaging in mortal society. The older ones at any rate.
