If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry.

This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

The ones I'm fluent in and most confident about are Italian, English, Greek, and Latin. I dabble in others, though. Romance languages and all?

That makes sense given that you speak Latin.

I speak French, Russian, Vietnamese, Japanese, and American English fluently, I'm comfortable in five others, and I can get by in maybe six more if you include different Slavic dialects. Ten if I'm willing to risk embarrassment.

Too bad. I kind of wouldn't mind speaking Italian with someone again.

I can speak Italian well enough, though perhaps not as good in writing.

[ That is untranslated Italian I am just sparing everyone the need to translate it, namely me I'm sparing myself ]

If you ever want to speak it, look me up. I was born and raised there.

I could always use some improvement. My reading is much better than my speaking. I have mildly embarrassing grammar.

The only way to prefect that is practice. I won't make fun of embarrassing grammar. I've lived in America for a while now and I miss home.

I understand. I haven't been home in... a long time. Centuries.

Where was home for you?

Bordeaux, France.

[stygios]

I've only been through France a few times. That's cool, though.

If you believe my countrymen we have the best food in the world. I think Italy might have us beat, but don't tell anyone.

Your secret is safe with me. I better go eat something myself, though.
