If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry. This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

[ It would certainly explain the amount of meddling that was apparently involved. ]

Skylark will figure out the implications of that later since he's having a moment of going "wait, the Underworld has a god???" and then remembers it's probably a different underworld.

More importantly, this is the first time he's ever met someone who's also the child of a god, and he's just running through a few different feelings in succession. ]

Suddenly "ghostking" makes a lot of sense.

Ostensibly my dad.

[ "Ostensibly" because the idea of calling him his father still makes him want to not do so out of sheer spite. ]

Sounds about right. Demigod or full god?

[ It's a little weird for him, since "demigod" isn't what's normally used back home. You just say "Godblooded" and everyone knows what that means. ]

I supposed it'd be demigod? Mortal child of a god?

That sounds right, yeah. One divine parent, one mortal.

So, yeah. Didn't think I'd meet another one here.

I interact with a lot of demigods back home, but...I haven't met any here besides you, yeah.

You're the first one I've met at all, actually? Unless Godblooded dogs count.

There's sort of training camps at home. Once you realize what you are, monsters tend to want you dead, so you don't make it long without some kind of training.

I think dogs can count.

Is there any particular reason why the monsters would want you dead.

[ That was meant to be a question but he's busy going "what". ]

They're attracted to the power demigods have. Usually they kill you, sometimes they eat you. So it's a good idea to get them first.

I guess that makes sense...

So is being a demigod not as dangerous where you're from?

Not that much more dangerous than it is for any regular mortal out there? Most things that can kill a person aren't going to be terribly picky about whether you're Godblooded or not, because a mortal's a mortal. Though I guess there probably are some with a taste for Godblooded.

If anything I think the real danger is if their divine parent is the meddlesome type to see their child as another means to an end, but that's just being a shitty parent made worse by the fact they have more power.

Yeah. That's something the gods at home do off and on. My father only has two half-mortal children at the moment, so we get a disproportionate amount of attention.
