If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry.

This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

Why don't we both just agree that
we're pretty good at combat but still could use a little help sometimes?

That would make your choices out to be two and a half truths and half a lie. More like a tiny fib.

Diamant is still better than me. That isn't my issues talking, he's beaten me in every archery contest we've ever done. That's just the truth.

convinced you'd lose?

Well, yes, but it's Diamant.

I don't know a whole lot about competitions, but I do know it's harder to win
when you already think you've lost.

That's true. But I am Alcryst, and unless I became someone not Alcryst, I don't think I could ever really believe I could defeat my brother.

Would it help if you close your eyes and imagine
what he'd think and do in that situation?
It's Diamant so he's probably usually thinking about training or fighting or steak...or hairy caterpillars.

That might work. Although... I don't know if I should admit this... But I've never found caterpillars all that scary myself.

See! You beat him at something already.
Think about him cowering in front of a hairy caterpillar, and it will at least convince you he's not invincible.

I've never seen him cower. At worst he might have yelped once.

He's probably cowering a little on the inside
but putting on a brave front for your sake.

I would still think he was amazing no matter how scared he was of bugs.

That's the thing.
Being afraid doesn't make people any less amazing.
It's the fact that he'd probably still jump in to protect us if any bugs fell on us.
I'm confident you'd do the same, too.

Anyone on the Somniel would do that for each other.

[...but then again, the Somniel is full of wonderful people, aside from him.]
