If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry.

This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

A lot of our crop land was destroyed or inaccessible for years. It's a long story. A lot of people went hungry. The rich people in the inner city of course wouldn't share with anyone even when they had enough.

It's better now but I still don't think we have ice cream on my home island yet. That's okay. Having enough food for everyone is good enough.

I see, it sounds like you have lived quite a difficult life if there are those who want to take away resources for their own greed.

I certainly hope that it will get better for you. Or better yet, perhaps I should show you whatever food there is to offer here in this world? I think you deserve it.

Oh. Well, people are greedy everywhere but that's not really our biggest problem. That was just sort of a secondary thing. Everything being destroyed was a bigger issue when it came to food scarcity.

We're behind the rest of the world technologically but we're catching up. I have no idea how ice cream and stuff like that works but I guess we'll probably have it someday.

I always like trying new food, so I'll try whatever you have to show me.

If it helps, there is a lot of technology I don't understand myself. I wasn't aware there was this 'internet' or 'phone' or even an 'airplane' until I arrived here! It's fairly exciting!

And even more exciting that I can try and learn to cook with the various items around here too!

Now before I ask that we venture off, please do tell me. Is there any kind of food you like?

Airplane I knew. Phone I knew, but it didn't mean the same thing it seems to here. Internet I learned in the last world I travelled to. Even after months, I don't understand it. It's a lot to take in, when four years ago we had never seen a photograph.

I'm not much of a cook myself. I was in the military since I was pretty young so it's not like I really cooked. I can survive but I can't do anything special.

I like meat. There are so many kinds of meat it surprises me. Sweet things. Oh, spicy things. Spicy things are so interesting. I could never have imagined them before.

I wasn't aware that I was talking to someone who also travels to different worlds. How interesting, it seems that I have some good luck in befriending world travelers. All the more reason why I need to figure how to impress you, no?

But if you like meat, I'll try my best to cook up some Tianshu Meat for you! Although, I wonder if I can find the ingredients needed here.

That or I can make Almond Tofu. It shouldn't be too difficult to find tofu here, right?

It just sort of happened. I don't think it's a common occurrence exactly, though plenty of people here who seem to have been to other worlds. I wasn't really expecting that. How many other worlds are there? How many other worlds that pull people like us to them are there? It's nuts to think about.

What kind of meat is Tianshu meat? I'm not a very good cook myself but I should learn to cook more things.

I don't know what tofu is though.

I'm not sure, it can be a difficult thing for me to think about as well. I just know that I'm friends with a world traveler. Although, he has yet to tell me what kind of things he has seen.

[Nevermind that there are some things going down in her own world but...!]

But anyway! Tianshu meat is from a cow but if you don't like that, we can always go with tofu! It's pretty much fermented soy curds!

Friends with a world traveler. Someone who has done this kind of thing before? On accident or on purpose?

[ Interesting to think about if it's on purpose. ]

I like cow meat a lot.

I can't really imagine this tofu thing but I'll try anything. I'm not picky.

[ No one he grew up with could afford to be picky, really. ]

It's on accident. He just happened to be looking for his sister, that's all.

Then very well! I think I shall surprise you with what I can make for you! Now tell me, where do you live?

Once I finish it up, I'll make sure you have the best tasting Liyuean food yet!

Oh. But does that mean he can travel to other worlds on purpose?

[ Is that a thing? People can do that on their own? ]

I live in the place they gave me, an apartment I guess.

Yes he can and it makes me wonder what else he has seen. What a pity he has yet to tell me.
