If this adventure with chain mail has taught me anything, 'tis that many of us here are having our first exposure to the internet, with all its amusements and pitfalls included. Thus, I thought it might be nice to introduce another 'getting to know each other' game that some of us might not know yet. This one won't involve pictures or ratings of attractiveness, not to worry. This game is called 'two truths and a lie'. The premise is simple. You list three statements about yourself, two true and one false. Ideally they should all be similar levels of unbelievable. Then, other people respond to you to guess which one is the lie. We all learn a little about each other and have a bit of fun.

[He gestures to her sword, knowing what it means to her. He can see the blood red jewel set into the blade above the hilt, the one that she said belonged to her father.]

It doesn't seem to me like you've forgotten them. And that's really what matters, even if they're gone. Memories are precious things, and even if you forget everyone else, remembering them in someway helps to preserve them. Even if it's only a keepsake gem in a sword.

[ She could say something here, about how the only remembers what the gem is because that place she was before this gave everyone amnesia and let them buy memories. It was weeks before she found out that it wasn't her first time with amnesia and why she woke up so different than everyone else. ]

[ But he's trying to be reassuring here, so she doesn't get into it. ]

Thanks, that helps to hear. [ She says this in what is to her Russian, to him Snezhnayan. She did miss having someone to speak it with. ]

[His ears immediately perk up, recognizing the language of his homeland on her tongue. Amusement and pleasant surprise cross his features, did his other self teach her this?]

I didn't know you could speak Snezhnayan, [he responds in his mother tongue.] Did I teach you this from your last endeavor? Of which, I have many questions about as well...if you're willing to answer them.

[This lady is full of surprises, and he's really happy about it!]

No, I spoke it already. My world has a similar language. You had told me about your country, the cold and all, and I took a guess. [ Kind of funny that she surprised him with it twice. ]

Sure, anything you want to know.

[He wonders what's up with her world having a language that's pretty identical to Snezhnayan, but that might be a mystery to solve for another day. For now, he's got other things on his mind, like the whole him being in this other world with her issue.]

You said I was with you in another world, but I have no recollection of this- what exactly happened there? I have a comrade who also attested to being stolen away to another land and made to do the bidding of demons, so needless to say I'm quite interested in this whole alternate world business.

If you mean Lumine, it's the same place. That's where I met her. We were on the same... team, I guess you could call it.

I'm afraid I don't really know much. Others here I know from my time there, but they don't remember me either. But all of you know Lumine from your home world. Occasionally we'd get someone return to that place after a time away and they didn't remember their previous time there. It all gets a bit muddled.

She made no mention to me that I too, had also been kidnapped and pulled there.

[That's a little disconcerting, but he also understands why Lumine probably wouldn't tell him- he didn't remember, so there was no need to send that kind of shock to him while they were trying to figure out how they were even going to survive here.]

Sounds like they were able to erase memories as easily as it was to make them...and now people have been stolen away here, too. Heh, it wouldn't surprise me if there was even more worlds like these we didn't know about...

[That's a whole can of worms. He's not going to think too hard on it right now, or it's gunna break his brain. He'll consider things more carefully later.]

Anyway, thank you for telling me. I'd no idea I was in any other world other than my own. I'm sorry that you also had to go through that; the picture painted for me by Lumine wasn't one that I'd of wished on her, or you.

[ And here's where there are some things she's not going to get into. Not her business, really. ] I'm sure she didn't tell you for the same reason I tried not to. There's no handbook for this weirdness.

You've lost someone here? I'm sorry. That's always hard. Not everyone from that place got brought here and I'm still trying to figure out whether I can get back there and get them. I'm lucky, my husband and some others made the trip.

Along the same lines, thanks but don't worry about it. My situation on my home world wasn't so good, I'm glad I managed to get here even if I had to go through there on the way.

I do hope things turn out better here for you and your husband. Lumine was worried, and most likely still is that this world might turn on us and prove to be a hellish nightmare much like the one you just left. But I've had nothing but pleasant experiences so far with a few minor instances aside.

I don't want to invoke any more bad memories for you, so instead of asking you to relive through the tragedies of your home world and the last world you were in, let's focus on this one instead. There will be plenty of battles to partake in, and I'm excited to see what this world has in store for us. Would it be alright if we continue this trend of sparring? I'm sure I let you know all about my passion for it.

[He laughs, it sounds like since he told her to fight him to start their friendship all over again, that he definitely told her about how much he loves combat.]

[ So many people say things like that, forgetting that she only has a few months before her Long Sleep. Less, if one of the attempts to fix it goes badly. But she feels like a jerk when she keeps bringing it up. ]

Focusing on this one sounds better. And absolutely we can keep up the trend. I train right here every morning, drop by whenever you feel like it.

Splendid, I'll hold you to that, you know.

[And he will, because he'll absolutely show up frequently now that he's gotten an invite, if evidenced by the smile on his face.]

I'll make sure that we spar so much, that when you do forget about me, when we fight again, you'll be so stricken by how familiar it feels that you won't be able to help but question why.

[His determination on this point shines through, that smile turning to something more arrogant and cocky, and yet at the same time friendly and warm.]

I know. Both things, actually. There's no way fighting with you wouldn't feel familiar.

[ Enough that he could sense it too, despite that there's nothing wrong with his own memory. ]

I do keep enough of myself that familiar people will bring a feeling that I know them, even if I don't understand it. Sometimes I fight against that, is all. Feeling like you know someone when you have no memory of them isn't always fun.

I'm sure it isn't...but that just means I'll have an easier time convincing you that you indeed know me. I'll force you to confront it, fun or not, hahaha.

[All that means to him is that he gets a good fight and he'll get his friend back. Sounds like a win win to him, even if it's not so great for her.]

Anyway, for now, I'd prefer to focus on the moment- if you're ready to go again, I'd be more than happy to spar a bit more.

I'm always ready.

[ She pops back up to a standing position and offers him a hand, despite that she well knows he doesn't need it. ]
