Hey, everyone! I just wanna take some time out to mention something important:

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

Woo! Yeah, this will be my… [She counts on her fingers] …twenty first?! Wow, I’m old.

But, you don’t need to get me anything! I just wanted to say this since everyone’s more focused on Halloween! And I’m sure people would get angry if I hijack it.

Wow um, excuse you/me, I had my 25th birthday earlier this month, and I'm definitely NOT old, so you're NOT OLD either. Besides, you're around the same age as I was when I started HUNTRIX, so...

[ NOT OLD!!! But also relaxing and smiling after that and she's busy with starting to braid her insane amount of hair while chatting here... ]

But hey, Happy Birthday! Or Happy Cake Day, whichever, or both. ...Lots of birthdays here this month, huh?

Ahaha, well, to me it felt like it, but I’m glad that it is certainly not the case here.

And thanks! Yeah, there’s a lot of October birthdays, but at least it isn’t Christmas!

…wow, that’s a lot of hair. Kinda like Weiss.

Maybe there are even a lot of those, who just look like they're around our age range or a bit older than us but they're actually A LOT older...

[ . . . okay, she knows at least some of those cases too but shhhhhhhh, just hypothetical thinking here.

I'm glad mine isn't on Christmas either. [That would have been the WORST CHRISTMAS for so many years.] But I guess there are many birthdays in every month considering how many of us are here.

Oh, hey, that's a new one. Most of the time everyone says Rapunzel or some combination of Rumi and Rapunzel.

[ but actually... she ... pauses, seems to realize something and unbraids it. ]

Oh, I’m pretty sure there somewhere. Even those younger, too! Maybe?

[A shrug]

Rapunzel? Never heard of that. Then again Coulda sworn there was someone by that name before? Eh.

[Probably in one of the other worlds, Ruby]

…what’s wrong with your hair?

Ah, yes, younger ones too, of course, wouldn't really surprise me.

[Especially noooooooot considering the ones she was referring to knowing earlier are demons from her home world, so it happens there too.]

It's a fairy tale about a girl or a young woman locked in a very tall tower and she has this really, really long hair and she can throw it from there to help people climb into that tower... You know, usual fairy tale logic. That's really amazing though, that there may have been a Rapunzel here or even someone named after her if not real her.

[Rumi grins at that. But then again, maybe some have even longer hair than hers happens to be... And speaking of her hair, she gives a little laugh.]

Nothing! I'm just--- So used to putting it on the same braid style all the time, that I automatically started doing that... But I'm NOT going to do that hairstyle for a surprise performance at the concert. I kind of need this to go away from my way to get my makeup done, though, so...

[Here goes making a very quick ponytail.]

Oh! I understand completely! Ah, am I taking you away from your preparations or…?

Nope, not taking me away from them at all or I wouldn't have replied here... I'm used to multitasking.

[Shrug. Especially to making up while making videos or video calls which is what she starts doing right now.]

Anyway. What kind of things do you like? Items, places, food, drinks, anything.

[Weiss comes in shortly after Ruby finishes recording, a small bag in one hand.]

I think being both your partner and your girlfriend somewhat obligates me to get you something. That, and I've had this in the works for weeks, and I don't want it to go to waste.

Aww, thank you, Weiss! I hope I’m not too insistent on such things - I just wanted to say that before everyone went off for parties and such.

Well, I have a higher priority tonight. You.

[Weiss reaches into the bag and pulls out a small jewelry box.]

Happy birthday, Ruby.

[Ruby’s eyes go wide seeing the box, she reaches over to hold it.]

Weiss…?

[Weiss rolls her eyes.]

It's not what you think, though it is still a ring. Go ahead and open it.

[And Ruby lets out a small sigh out of relief. Still not ready yet.

She does go and open the box.]

[Inside is, indeed, a ring. It's made of something resembling silver, and a band of crystal shaped to appear like thorned vines goes around it. A very familiar type of crystal, in fact.]

It took some time to find something suitable, but I think you'll be satisfied with the crystal I chose.

[Ruby pulls out the ring and looks it over a bit.]

It’s from the caves we found, isn’t it?

Exactly. Like most of the crystals there, it's pressure activated. Squeeze it, and it and everything it's touching will turn intangible for five seconds. In this case, that would mean you and the ring itself.

Oh, wow…!

[And Ruby slips the ring on her finger, giving it a squeeze. She can feel the magic and steps back, walking through the table behind her.]

That is so cool!

I had a feeling you would do that. I should have explained the drawback first. It's only what the crystal's touching that turns intangible. Look down.

Only what the Crystal’s…?

[And Ruby looks down to see that her clothes are down in a pile. Not only had she walked through the table, she caused her clothes to fall off of her, leaving Ruby naked.]

Woah! Ahaha! It’s a good thing we’re indoors! Oops…!

You've never seemed to have issues working past this sort of thing before, so I figured that it was an acceptable design flaw for something so useful.

It really is, honestly.

[She smiles sincerely.]

I know you might think me an exhibitionist, but if I can escape and attack to save someone, let me be it.

I... actually wasn't thinking that at all until now. I just figured that you were the sort that's willing to accept temporary discomfort for the sake of a tactical advantage.

And… that’s what I meant. I guess I still have a poor choice of words. But, yes, I don’t mind discomfort if it means gaining an advantage.

Well, that aside, I do hope it serves you well. I've noticed that you have trouble concentrating enough to use your Semblance when trapped, so this is a low effort alternative.

[And she leans in to kiss her.]

And I should get dressed, too.

[And she’ll go to scoop up her clothes.]

[Self-control, Weiss...]

[Nailed it!]

[And once she gets her clothes, she triggers her Semblance, re-emerging a moment later fully clothed.]

There we go.

Of course. I have seen far too many people be controlled by vices they were fully aware they had to let myself become one. If I realize I have a weakness, I work to eliminate it.

[Ruby giggled as she walked over and rested her forehead on Weiss’.]

I’ll start working on mine so I don’t get left behind.

Goodness, I don't even remember having only twenty-one years behind me...

[Says Guizhong, looking to be in her late twenties at the most.]
