Job searching seems to be a pretty popular topic here, so here's a related question: how do you write a resume and describe your skills and work experience without sounding violently unhinged?

Like I was thinking of applying to be a garbage collector, because I'm used to cleaning up dead bodies and have a high tolerance for bad smells from that. And at home 'experience with handling corpses' would be a perfectly reasonable thing to put on a job application, but I get the impression that it might be kind of a red flag here?

-Also, if you don't have any advice on that, then tell me which of these supernatural accessories says 'promising employee candidate' to you.

I could wear them both, and I usually would at home, but for a job interview I'm a little less concerned about power and a little more concerned about fashion.

My parents worked hard to give me as happy a childhood as anyone could have had in the Backstreets. The least I can do is try to take care of them now that I'm grown.

... I see. I've taken care of children who are less fortunate -- who were left without parents. Even if I've made a difference... I know that it would've meant more to them to have parents.

You're very fortunate.

I know I am. But - I also don't think that adoptive parents are any lesser than biological ones.

You're right. Sometimes, a family is found in places you least expect, too.

That's true. -I don't know whether to wish you a quick return to them or to stay here longer where it's safer.

It's a little strange to read that, after wshat you've said about home. Is it due to having another type of job?

We're coworkers, but before that she was an Arbiter - a professional killer for the government.

She's a very, very scary person.

Despite that, I have the feeling somehow that you don't think that she's as scary as you're saying.

I've known some people who have to do some scary things, too -- who seem like they could be frightening people, but... they had a kind heart regardless of that.

Oh, no, I'm completely serious. I was honestly terrified the first time I met her, and the only reason I'm less scared of her now is I've come to realize she doesn't really care enough to murder me if I say the wrong thing.

... Was a person like that really taken here to help this world?

Not only was she taken here, they also took two extremely dangerous monsters from her facility with her where other people would get their pets brought with them. Binah and I can handle them so they shouldn't ever breach containment, but just having them here is a Bad Idea.

I don't think the people in charge here know what they're doing.

They brought monsters here, too?!

Maybe it isn't that they don't know what they're doing, but maybe they're not as in control of their powers as we thought they were. As for your coworker -- it may be that they saw a capable fighter in her.

If the monsters do break free -- those from my world and myself as capable fighters. The both of you aren't alone in handling worse case scenario.

I appreciate the offer, and if the worst happens I might need to take you up on that, but it shouldn't happen based on their recorded behavior. Unless a lot of people start dying in a short span of time, then we'll have bird-shaped problems.

Most of my job is preventing the breaches in the first place, but at least I'm pretty good at that job.

Do other people know about the monsters?

There are a lot of capable fighters from my own world. If anything were to happen... I'm certain that we could help you take care of the problem quickly if you needed the help. It sounds as though you've been able to gain experience, too.

I made a whole big announcement post about what to do in case you encounter them while hostile. Freaked some people out, but Jean took it pretty much in stride, at least.

That does sound like Jean. We've grown used to fighting threats in our own home.

He's good to talk to. Our worlds aren't the same exactly, but it's nice to have someone who understands what an adjustment this is.

He's a good guy, but he works himself too hard.

You're right -- old habits die hard, but... this is a world we might be able to relax a little in. That's easier said than done, though.
