Hello, I believe this is my first network post despite being in this land for a while, but I have a question that I feel would be best answered in this type of public forum.

Emoticons: I have been told this is a way to convey emotions effectively via text i.e :) = happy and :( = sad. These I understand and know how to use in text conversation, but when I tried to learn more complex emoticons to better express myself, I found many that were confusing.

Examples of emoticons whose meaning I am perplexed by:

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I would appreciate someone explaining these... and informing me of any other emoticons outside of :) and :( as this will help me learn to express myself properly. Thank you in advance.

Ah, that is me throwing my hands in the air in celebration. I should not be doing something as bold as that in public, but I suppose it does not hurt if it is just through text.

I see, so you may use text to convey emotions you wish to show, but cannot due to social propriety... or perhaps shyness?

Either way, I think it's wonderful that we may properly express our emotions through the written medium, where we cannot in reality.
