Take this as more a confirmation being made if need be, but—

What does it mean when a Command Seal, or whatever you might call it, vanishes completely without a Spell being used?

[Sure, there'd only been one left out of three, but he was damn sure he hadn't used it. The other two only used when asked- well, the second only used when asked since the first had been to save the guy's life.]

If it makes it any easier to answer, I'm the guy Napoleon calls Grandpere.

[Napoleon didn't tell his Master where he was going..? Hijikata can only imagine that he didn't want to worry him, but given the risk he really should have told him! Then again shortly before Napoleon left, he asked Hijikata to look after his sphinx kitten and his and Medusa's pokémon, mentioning that his Master was afflicted with the frozen heart malady... he probably really just didn't want to cause him additional stress.]

You may want to go to the Flower Yard, but Napoleon mentioned that you're not completely healthy right now.

[Keeping it vague in case 76 doesn't want the whole network to know that he's got a frozen heart!]

I'll go and wait for him. I don't mind camping for a few days.

[That's one way to say "The guilt is eating me alive right now", surely... on horseback he'll be out there in just a couple of hours, so he can definitely commute back and forth to look after the companion creatures and ensure Napoleon is alright! ~~And definitely not just distract himself from the rest of what's going on!~~]

A reason he probably didn't tell me shit- think the only way I could go out was if my partner came with me and thought it was a good idea to given- well.

[Frozen Heart bullshit, and he had laughed when it hit, having to be carried home by the very man now needing to be waited out. How the reason it hit just wasn't fair, allowed to have his secrets.

Why they were secrets.]

Take care of yourself, don't have to camp after all. Probably other things you need to look after, but going out to check here and there wouldn't hurt probably..

[76 telling him to take care of himself only increases Hijikata's guilt. It's his fault that this poor man lost his Servant! And it's Napoleon, who is so friendly and warm and kind. His Master must be worried for him, even if his messages come across as calm and collected.]

I can manage. Is there anything you need? I'm a summer power holder, for what it's worth.

[He could give him a heat boost! It wouldn't help for long, but it might bring him some relief from the cold... unless 76 is a summer holder himself and doesn't need assistance on that front.]

[Little does he know that it'll take the Servant 5 days to be reborn rather than the usual 3! It'll give Hijikata some of the worst worries of his lifetime.]

[What better way to welcome the guy back, after a punch in the shoulder for not telling him what he was off to do- understanding it, but still. Food was one of the ways he just knew to show things were still alright.

It's almost funny- made the contract to keep him from dying here when he took a hit for me during a job. Kind of guy he is, huh.

[Napoleon's Master really seems to be taking it with wry humour, already planning the dinner for his Servant's return... he appears to be a good match for him, a caring bond partner. What follows, though, gives Hijikata yet another pang. Of course Napoleon took a fatal hit for the other man. Of course.]

That IS the kind of guy he is.

[Part of him wants to share that he and his own Servant contracted under similar circumstances, with both of them injured and in mortal danger, but frankly, the less 76 knows about him the better.]

He probably died while helping someone else this time.

[He knows he did. Napoleon, why are you like this?]

[The long talks and taking those quest jobs together had given him plenty of time to get to know Napoleon- and figure out why the man had reminded him of another that was larger than life. Probably would have liked him, but—]

Probably would have ended up with both of us dead if it hadn't been made.

Fact I'm well below and no where near the top of my game, can pretty much explain why he didn't say anything to me before he went off. Trying to fulfil someone's wish and just

[Napoleon, it seems, has a knack for reminding people of other important persons.]

[A blatant lie, given that it's evident that Napoleon was killed by Gorgon. But perhaps Hijikata is putting a bit of a desperate wish into that response. He remembers the events he saw in Napoleon's memory portal, how he destroyed a Servant that was a fearsome, fiery giant, at the cost of his own life... but that dangerous Servant's Master played a role in averting the disaster too, and it was Napoleon who changed her mindset and convinced her to help his party. Maybe, just maybe, Napoleon got through to Gorgon, too.]

But he can tell you about all that himself when he's back.

You're right.

[A few reasons that the man was going to be dragged to dinner, once he had time to get his feet under him and touch base with anyone else. Stubborn as Napoleon could be when he had made a decision- he knew he was the same. Whatever he'd gone out to do, he'd probably managed some of it, even if he gave his life to make way for someone else to finish it.

Talk of granting wishes and making miracles happen.]

[Waiting absolutely will be the hardest part.]

Do you know what his favourite food is?

[He can imagine that he's coming across as a fussy person who's mothering Napoleon overly much, but he doesn't care. The man died because of him; the least he can do is have something nice to welcome him back with!]

With the times we've grabbed a meal together after a job, got a good idea. I'm also pretty good at home cooking, despite a lot of things that could be assumed from looking at me.

[They had spent quite a bit of time together here and there, that growing friendship- and a reason he figured at last a third person now ought to know his name rather than just a number.]

Even old soldiers should get a good meal, after all.

[Hijikata thought he could perhaps bring Napoleon's preferred snack to the Flower Yard, but he resolves to leave the whole food side of things to 76. Even just from the few lines of text can almost picture the two of them enjoying a heartening home-cooked meal in a warm home. They seem to have a good, solid Master-Servant bond between them.]

Everything's easier to handle with a good meal, for sure.

[He remembers buying fast food for himself and Medusa when her original Master had disappeared from Ellipsa and she was physically and emotionally exhausted after looking for her all over the place... it felt nice to just sit and eat together.]

Fuel the body as well as he can the soul sometimes, no matter where it comes from.

[First fast food meal back home on the hood of a car could be just as good a a meal made by family and back in the house at times.]
