I need to confirm something. There isn't a weird disease going on that makes our powers go haywire, right? Since that happened in the previous world I was in. Sort of like a magical flu?
[How very specific of a question this is. Strangely specific.]
If not I guess I just learned how to breathe fire. I've been trying to do that for a while, but I didn't expect it to happen all of a sudden. Sometimes learning these powers is really weird.
[He did sneeze, but that was mostly because a fallen leaf tickled his nose. He doesn't really feel like he's catching a flu, but... who knows.
There's evidence of a random wooden bridge in Sunwaning having been on fire, smoke still rising from the railings and very confused natives over the now burned up parts of the bridge.]
Anyway, does anyone know how to repair things yet or should I just start doing this manually...

One of the wooden bridges. Just the rails though, so it's not too hard to fix.

[Being stuck in the city as per his arrangement with Ozymandias is kind of giving him cabin fever, so he's more eager than usual to offer hands-on help.]
But it'd probably be faster and easier if a winter power holder helped you. Does Levi know how to do that sort of thing? I know Shoto's been practising, but he's kind of still in the middle of it.

[He was just taking a walk around the neighborhood...]
I don't know, actually. We haven't talked about powers a whole lot. But it's not that difficult of a task without powers either.
Video => Action
[Before long he does turn up at Jean's location and assesses the damage.]
Hm... you know what, I think we should leave this to the professionals after all. If we rip these burned railings off and nail some random boards down instead it'll be a crap job. They need to be properly polished and painted and whatnot. I can write a report for the city maintenance office, or else we can scout for a capable winter power holder after all.
[Even if he felt comfortable asking Medusa for help right now, he knows that she doesn't rely on her local magic much, so she most likely wouldn't be able to assist them anyway.]

[Well, he continues to be embarrassed about it, then. The natives aren't really too bothered, apparently.]
Well, I'm a blacksmith, not a carpenter... hopefully someone replies to the post who knows the skill. The only Winter ones I really know are Shoto, Korra, Yuri and Levi.
[Hmm. Maybe Yuri or Korra would know. They seemed pretty advanced in the area.]

[He doesn't know more winter power holders either, and half the ones Jean named are among those. But something else about what Jean said pings him more.]
Do you want to pick up smithing in earnest again? I thought you were happy with your stable boy job.

[He's also been talking a bit more about it with Mukuro, too.]
no subject
For Eren and Reiner, huh?
[At least there's no venom or animosity in his voice! Between the background information he got from Levi, the exhaustive talk about morality and forgiveness he had with Mukuro, and the mess he kicked off himself just before the turn off the month, he doesn't have the flaming-sword-of-justice energy left in him to further condemn Reiner.]
Did you make them like the ones you guys use back home? Or Avalonian style?
[While he hasn't fought with Jean's swords from home himself he's under the impression that they're lighter and less durable, so it may take the others a while to get used to sturdier models.]
no subject
Avalonian style. I don't have the skills to make the blades for our gear yet, but I definitely plan on looking into it. But I figured a weapon that can be used without the gear would be nice.
no subject
[Seriously, swords don't get made overnight! Jean must have put quite some time and effort into it.]
If you need any additional input on the training, let me know - you are going to train them yourself, right?
no subject
[Perfect plan, right? But he's half-joking.]
I do plan on offering, but if they want to figure it out on their own I won't stop them.
no subject
That's fair. Watch them become knightsworthy swordsmen in no time!
[He'll always put disproportionate amounts of faith in Eren, and while things are more complicated with Reiner, he won't call his skills as a combatant into question for no reason.]
Let's get off this bridge so you can stop thinking of it. I'll just take a few photos for the city maintenance guys.
[He does just that, and within moments they're ready to go.]
What made you learn fire-breathing, anyway? I totally skipped that in favour of the other abilities.

[He's a bit too temperamental and impatient to be one, but somehow it had worked anyway. Must be his natural leadership skills.]
... don't judge me on this, but I just want to be better at fire magic than Eren.
[He's not blushing, you're completely imagining the redness of his cheeks.]
no subject
[That's easy for him to say, given that he's even more temperamental and impatient than Jean... still, he felt successful and accomplished riding across the plains of Avalon with his emblem on his cloak, rushing towards the next adventure on his black horse!
Jean's admission regarding his fire-breathing fervour, though, puts a grin on his face.]
Are you still keeping up your rivalry?
[He's not even judging Jean. Sometimes a rival is just what you need to spur you on!]
Has Eren gotten good at using fire magic fast? I haven't really seen him use it much.
no subject
[Avalon was just a bit more lax about those.]
He admitted he has some problems. But... he can use fire magic as a titan. That's impressive already.
no subject
[This opens up unforeseen possibilities! He hadn't even thought about how Eren's size as a titan would amplify any magic used.]

[Whenever he next sees him! They usually run into each other at public events or get assigned to each other as quest partners. What are casual meet-ups?]
Do you want to go train in the Grand Collosseum? You won't burn anything down there. I'd just have to find some rotten fruits on the way; I want to practice unrotting stuff. Or were you going home?
no subject
[He doesn't trust that magic quite enough.]
But why not. Might as well try and see if I can make it happen less accidentally.
no subject
[Would he eat fruits that Jean unrotted, though..? Probably not! Regardless, he's happy for the impromptu opportunity to practice. It's always more fun together than alone!]
